I hope that this is in keeping with the thread.
Last night, after 'the enemy' had retired early, mortally wounded by a two and a half bottles of Pinot Grigio, I channel hopped and landed on Duets at the BBC on BBC4.
There were some oldies, but goodies featured on there, with some pairings that I had never seen before.
Phil Everly and Cilla Black doing, "Let it be me", Dusty Springfield and Tom Jones, doing an upbeat song that I can't recall now, Neil Diamond and Shirley Bassey, doing "Play me", and the inevitable Sonny and Cher's "I got you babe."
Two performances stuck out for me, Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge, "Take the ribbon from my your hair", and James Taylor and Carly Simon, "Close your eyes."
Aside from the fact that the performances of the songs were great, both Rita and Carly were drop dead gorgeous, Rita with her Native American Cherokee high cheek bones, and Carly with her classic girl next door looks.
I learned too that Kris Kristofferson won a Rhodes Scolarship, and attended Merton College, Oxford.
