I know everyone says it's confusing but I don't find it particularly at all, it's probably coz being brought up on a diet of self inflicted Sci Fi & fanatasy from an early age, this is all just routine stuff. :smilin:

Having said that I got a little caught out at the beginning of Epi. 5 - Coz it had been a few days since seeing Epi. 4, I totally forgot about who's sheath he was in and thought I'd missed out an episode when epi 5 started. :gigglesnshit:

The middle part of the series I found a little slow but the last three episodes are cracking.

I watched the last one yesterday night and punched the air at one point which caused our dog, who was sleeping at my feet at the time, to jump out of her skin. Stupid mutt.

What I do is look at an episode guide after I watch each one so I understand any bits that I didn't quite get. The action hots up in the later episodes and it becomes more like a standard thriller / detective series except set in the future.

May not be everyone's cup of tea though but I've got a lot of love for it because of the books so that helps.

Thanks for the Netflix recommendation though. It's good!

Pretty good so far and faithful to the book (especially the balance of extreme violence with humour) from what I can remember as it's been well over a decade since a last read it.

I think TJ is right when he says it has Blade Runner styling and Az when he said the directing could be a bit tighter as it might be a bit confusing without knowledge of the book.

Netflix must have a stupid amount of money as the production was better than some films.

Also, does anyone manage to keep their clothes on for more than 5 minutes as the series goes on?

As someone who hasn't read the book....I found the earlier episodes to be confusing at times...esp the Quell/Kovacs flashbacks...

I am happy to report that shit got real from episode 5 onwards and loving it since.... (Ortega in all her glory in episode 5 IIRC :leer: )

Currently at 7th episode.... :hap:

Hell yeah. Looks like Altered Carbon has got mixed reviews but it seems to be a popular show so hopefully it will get re-commissioned.

I'm up to Episode 9 now and that clone scene with Ortega was wild.

Tell me, are you a believer?

That VR torture episode was brutal. I'm glad Netflix has picked this up as extreme violence was part of the book and Netflix don't seem shy in portraying it. Frosty is right that if they do Broken Angels that it is going to be immense, especially the weaponry.

I'm up to episode 7 myself now but yeah, Ortega is fine.

I've stalled at 4 at the moment, not had much time, but I'm going back in, in the next day or so with a concerted 3 or 4 episodes on the spin if I can get away with it.

It gets a bit weird around episode 4-5 but it's worth persevering with. It's a slick production no doubt.

I don't think the filmy types know that you can get any sort of porn you want at the press of a button theses days, they still believe adding copious amounts of mostly inconsequential sex makes people desperate to tune in to see whats next. I blame Game of Thrones for that.

I think I must be the only person in the western world who has never seen a single episode of GOT.

I don't get the point of lots of gratuitous sex scenes either but I guess it pulls in the punters.

Going to try and watch a few more episodes of Altered Carbon over the weekend. I hope Netflix serialise the other two books as well.

Sanction IV in the book is a fucking slaughterhouse ...
cant wait
:awesome:

Take care she's left you no chores to complete before her return home. You know the sort, the ones they don't tell you to do because you're expected to guess they need doing. Before you know it, 2 hours will have sped by because it's engrossing, then the panic will set in.

Loooool.

You'd be surprised at how productive and quick I can be with the household chores when I want to be. So would she probably!

I thought that once, I used to think 'how long can that take, really?' as I supped a beer and watched the football, until I found out how long it actually took to do something to someone's impossible specifications.

Anyways enjoy the show, I might catch a couple more episodes myself after the football finishes.
