None of Margaret's family had been in contact with her for nearly 20 years.

It's guaranteed, they'll all turn up at the court roaring and greeting.

A couple will face trial in September accused bludgeoning a woman to death and fraudulently claiming her benefits

Eddie Cairney and Avril Jones are accused of murdering Margaret between December 1999 and January 2000.

They're alleged to have locked Margaret in a room and bound her hand and legs between 1997 and 2000.

It's claimed the obtained £180,000 in benefits intended for Margaret, knowing she was dead.

Margaret's body has never been found.

Sargent Stephen Lewis and the photo fit.

Wow it's almost like someone was looking at him while sketching him! I googled (again) and see his case was turned down on appeal and his lawyers have refiled again, this should be heard by the end of August this year, though I can't find if it was successful or not. Yet another terrible injustice, South Wales police should be thoroughly ashamed and be made to reopen this case

The only thing was a fiasco.

Listen to this.

David Morris's lawyer was also the lawyer for the Lewis brothers so it meant, the lawyer never asked any questions in court, which could have incriminated them.

Any other lawyer would have said to their client " Can you think of anyone else who might have done this?"

But the lawyer couldn't, because that would have dropped the Lewis's in it.

The lawyer was sacked a year or so later.

It's sad to think Rita Davidson is still locked up, when people who've committed crimes that are far worse have been freed.

Do you remember the case of Stefan Kiszko, who was jailed for murdering an eleven year old girl?

That was described as the worst miscarriage of justice in British Criminal History.

At least he had is mum fighting for him.

Terrible he spend sixteen years locked up and only had eighteen months of freedom after his conviction was overturned.

Yes another terrible injustice against a person with special needs, how heartbreaking. The stress of all those years in prison is probably what caused his heart attack just a short time after he was freed. I just googled and see that Ronald Castree was (many years later) convicted of her brutal rape and murder, hopefully that scum will die before his due parole date at the age of 84.

I read a book recently called the Clydach Murders and that's another case, where an innocent man has been locked up for a long time.

David Morris was convicted of killing an eighty year old woman, her 34 year old daughter and her two grandchildren.

Reading through the book it becomes pretty obvious 34 year old Mandy Power was murdered by her lesbian lover Alison Lewis, who was a former policewoman.

Lewis was aided and abetted by her husband (A police sargent) and his brother (A police Inspector)

South Wales didn't want a scandal on their hands, so they fitted up Morris.

Wow that does seem a bit extreme, I'm wondering if she committed further crimes while inside and if that's what's lengthened her sentence? Or was she given 50 odd years? Also is her boyfriend still in jail?

At the murder trial the court heard that her co-accused Edward Gallagher was the driving force behind the crime and he had a history of violence towards women.

The court also heard that Rita had attended a special school, was suffering from mental health problems and was of low intelligence.

Despite that, her and Gallagher were both given a life sentence.

Rita Davidson's health deteriorated in prison and she was transferred to the State Hospital at Carstairs.

Edward Gallagher was paroled a long time ago, Rita has now been moved from the State Hospital, but still remains locked up.

Thank you for that information Victoria. What a total injustice and sadly no one is fighting for that woman with special needs. It sickens me that he's been free for a long time and she is left to rot because she doesn't have the intelligence to fight for her rights.

Sadly a whole life tariff isn't an option in Scotland.

However he's 76 so thirty years will do and as she's 56 give her forty years.

So long as it's long enough that they come out in a box, that'll do.

It seems a few years ago the Scottish Government considered bringing in American style sentences of 100 years here, because we don't have a whole life tariff.

However they later decided against it.

There's a female prisoner here called Rita Davidson, who's been locked up for 51 years.

She must be the longest serving female prisoner in the UK.
