God help me now. You think I'm lying because I told you I don't ask who is at the door before opening it?

I don't ask.

Neither do I think that when I open my front door, without asking who it is, the person on the other side is going to commit some egregious act against me.

Frankly, I believe a person who always has to ask who is at the front door before opening it because they are fearful that an act of violence is going to take place would benefit from therapy. Or moving to a better area.

Fine. But don't ever come on here complaining that the jehovas witnesses kept you talking for 10 minutes then!

Actually I found a thread on DS littered with people who don't even ask who it is and ignore all door knocks unless they're expecting someone. The rest as you'd expect at least ask who it is, look through a spy hole etc.

JW's stop coming to my door. I always ask them about the mistranslation in Luke Chapter 24.

There was no ancient Greek word for recuperation - they used resurrection instead.

You sound like my dad, he used to invite them in to talk about religion.
They never returned.

I don't think I've ever asked who it is.
Late at night I sometimes look through the curtain in a very obvious way.
No peeping.
Mind you I live in an almost crime free area.
Last year there were three recorded instances of crime.
One was a domestic where a bloke hit his wife and threw her out the house.
The other was someone had a wheelbarrow nicked.
The third was a huge cannabis farm got busted.

Why do firms make door chains, spy holes for Entrance doors, CCTV , Intercom systems that automatically open a door when the occupier is satisfied who is at the door ?

Because there's a demand for it.

What's your point?

She claimed he was stalking her before this happened. Even more reason to be on her guard.

No they don't. I never ask who is at the door I do look through the spy hole though.

As for this case I'm glad people are speaking out about this abuser of power with enough money to have people running scared. I hope he names the others in his trade who do the same. Even if it commutes his sentence from life to twenty years it'll be worth it.

Ms Anthony had met Weinstein in the early 1980s, after which she would see him socially for lunch when he was in London.
She described Weistein as a 'so-called friend', adding that they met dozens of times and she never felt as if anything 'untoward' were about to happen.
That was until she went for a drink at his rented house in Chelsea on one occasion and he started to undress and 'grabbed' her before she fled. Weinstein then began to 'stalk' her until the attack.

Now tell me who answers the door to someone like that?

"He pushed me inside and rammed me up against the coat rack in my tiny hall and started fumbling at my gown. He was trying to kiss me and shove inside me. It was disgusting."
She said she tried to push him away but was unable to as he was too heavy.
"Finally I just gave up. At least I was able to stop him kissing me. As he ground himself against me, I kept my eyes shut tight, held my breath, just let him get on with it. He came over my leg like a dog and then left. It was pathetic, revolting. I remember lying in the bath later and crying."

sounds a lot like rape to me.....
if that happened to you holly would you be saying it wasnt actual rape.. ffs...
:shake head:

She knew he was a scumbag from the circle she moved in. He had propositioned her before. So I can't understand why she would open the door to him or to anyone in her dressing gown unless she deemed it urgent.

Add to that, that she's famous and there could be any stalker outside. You might think she'd ask. Who is it? And decide to answer the door or not.

What difference does any of that make to what happened?

Are you arguing that this lady was the author of her own misfortune because she had the temerity of...answering her own front door?

I'm saying it doesn't make sense so it doesn't ring true.

In context this woman is a celebrity. Celebs get hounded. And they know that. We know that.

She meets Weinstein from the circles she mixes in. She finds him repulsive and then he knocks on her door.

Apparently she doesn't ask who is it? Which even us non celebs do and she answers in her dressing gown.

Or. She does ask who is it? And answers in her dressing gown to someone she already thinks is a perv.

Its reasonable to ask "why answer the door to him?"

No, a reasonable question would be ,Why the fuck does he think he can sexually abuse women?

A court would ask why she answered the door to him surely?? Or do you think they should skip that part?

If she's claiming she answered the door to someone who was stalking her and made it public then we have the right to ask. Why did you answer the door?
