The Starvation Army has been a shitty organisation from the start.

I use to donate to the Scottish SPCA each month by direct debit, but I cancelled it, when I found out their Chief Executive was getting paid more than the Prime Minister.

I thought I was helping abused animals, not paying for some chancers fancy holidays.

Don't forget all the expenses involved with throwing those lavish 'fund-raising' events which are essentially free parties for celebs to hang-out with each other.

I read a piece not too long ago about one charity that spent all its time (and money) throwing fund-raising parties in order to fund more fund-raising parties - they justify it by saying they are 'raising awareness'.

Nice little gig I suppose :hand:

This is the downside of Charities. Those stories put people off giving which makes the situation more desperate.
No head of a Charity should be that rich.

Never give to collectors in pubs.
Legally the owner takes a third of what's in the tin.
The person doing the round gets a third and that person comes to an agreement with the driver about how much he gets.
So a third of it is going to the charity but the person emptying the tins each night (the organiser) decides what a third is.
The charity have no way of knowing if the organiser is honest or not.
When the charity receives whatever it gets sent from the organiser they take their overheads too.
I give to a children's hospice.
Know the hospice well and the staff so I know where the moneys going.
My mum died of cancer many years ago now but I don't give a penny to them.
Heard to many horror stories about the money plus when a big company makes a breakthrough drug it's to expensive anyway.

It's a terrible thing to do Lady M.

Some shysters were going round the doors here collecting for Erskine Hospital that cares for Ex-Servicemen and they were at.

Erskine made a statement saying they don't do door to door collections.

Happens a lot.
We've had some scams here on clothes collections, have to say I don't mind too much, I just want to get stuff recycled and out the house so they can have it.
