It’s usually the people who complain about those words being overused who display the sexist / racist tendencies. Often they’re older and haven’t been able to keep up with changing times. What was once encouraged is now frowned or scorned upon and they can’t keep up.

I'd say every demographic has it's village idiots.

The problem is, you can't criticise some of them for fear of being branded as sexist/racist/homophobic/islamophobic/whatever.

Weird, huh?

Well don’t be sexist/racist/ etc... then you won’t get branded.

Simple huh?

Were you being an idiot every time someone called you an idiot?

Not that I'm calling you an idiot, but I'm sure someone has, and without justification. It happens with other labels too. In fact, labels are usually the first defense of idiots. :cuppaT:

Hi Maddy, been ages since we’ve had one of our deep and meaningful convos.
Nobody, irl, has ever called me an idiot. I’m sure that doesn’t shock you at all.
Idiot is a more generalised term and the idiot caller will have their own interpretation of what makes someone an idiot.

Being called a racist/sexist/ homophobic etc is more specific and would be a result of something specific the recipient of the label has said or done, like name calling.

Any and all words can have their definitions twisted. I would say words like racist and sexist are the most abused, because they are the most powerful. They do the most damage and evidence of a racist or sexist position is hardly necessary to have those words used against you.

It's why we have such difficult times have honest discussions about the topic.

Is American a race?

So me, Charles Barkley and George Takei are the same race?

We have several nationalities on the forum and you only want the opinions of the English.

I guess he's asking about England because I think I saw a post not long ago saying he was making a trip here in the near future, so you can't blame him for wanting the heads up.

Maybe he's not going to Scotland which would be a big mistake in my opinion and Wales too, if you're taking a trip to the UK you have to see them both too, it would be a crime and waste of experience if you don't.

Maybe..

Tom is one of those people, who thinks Scotland and Wales are little villages in England and he'll come across us on his travels.

It's surprising common belief amongst American's.

Vicky--I happen to like Scotspeople very much. And I know Scotland isn't a little village.

Make your mind up jack, Are Americans a Race or not?
You did post earlier that they are not.
You'd think with you being born in one of the most racist countries on earth you'd know the difference. There's not a place on earth the British haven't had their boots firmly on the necks of it's population.
Even today Britain is occupying foreign countries that they have held onto for hundreds of years. Until you give back Malta, N' Ireland, Falklands and several others you can't talk about any cunt being racist or xenophobic.

They are always banned when the President or VP speak. The Secret Service does not negotiate on that.

Once the big wigs were gone, the guns were no longer banned. There were people all over the area, inside and out, very well armed. :paranoid:

Yeah Trump is shit scared someone might shoot him. Can't think why. Surely all NRA guys are "good guys with guns"...aren't they?

I'm not sure what Trump thinks, and whatever he does think, he seems to change his mind quite a bit.

But that's not really the point here. The Secret Service has the final call on these issues.

On a side note, you can carry in the Texas State Capitol.

Open carry will not be permitted at schools, secured areas of airports, court rooms, hospital and government meetings, according to the new regulations. Three grocery stores H-E-B, Safeway and Whole Foods - have opted out of the law, saying only concealed weapons are allowed in the stores.

Open carry weapons are permitted, however, inside the state’s assembly building, or capitol, where licence holders can bypass metal detectors.

Yeah a few months ago Kim Jong Un was "little rocket man". Now he's "honourable" and "nice".

I know Texas gun laws are pretty lax compared to other states which was what amused me all the more to hear they'd been banned at the NRA convention. Obviously the SS don't trust them.

WASP Americans...

Don't say that Maddy identified himself as a WASP recently!
Americans .... the exceptional people .... only the white ones of course.

I am a WASP, or at least WASP ish, as are most Brits.

Don't know about how exceptional Americans are, but I know you have a strange obsession with them.
