It could also be a social experiment to see just how many perverts there actually are in this country?

The main issue that I can see in all of this is not the opting in and out it is the definition of pornography. Where is the line and who gets to draw that line, does this include soft porn, will they close down The Sun's page 3 pictures. This is the real problem with any censorship, small minded fuckwits get to have some power, the next thing you know.......well we all know where it leads.

In the words of Basil Fawlty....that's exactly how Nazi Germany started.

The idea behind this is to prevent those underage from accessing inappropriate material. It is clear that many children have totally free access to the internet and their parents don't monitor them in any way. When signing up to an ISP you will have to specify if you wish to have unrestricted web access, so any parent who requests unrestricted access only has themselves to blame if thier child views explicit material online.

I really don't see why people have such a problem with it. Before the advent of the internet, anyone wishing to look at porn would have to walk into a shop and buy the material in a face to face situation. Now all you're going to have to do is state that you want unrestricted access, surely that isn't so bad.

Another good point.

I don't think that, that's the point. I can understand opting out of viewing adult content but opting to see it seems a little invasive.
You in yet, Stooo? :fire:

Not sayin' :snooty:

Coy customer, are we?? I break coy men, routinely. You've nowhere to hide, mister. :pmsl:

Subscribers to four of the UK's biggest internet service providers will have to "opt in" if they want to view sexually explicit websites, as part of government-sponsored curbs on online pornography.

The measures will be unveiled on Tuesday as David Cameron hosts No 10 meeting with the Mothers' Union, which earlier this year produced a raft of proposals to shield children from sexualised imagery.

The prime minister is expected to announce other moves in line with the Christian charity's review, such as restrictions on aggressive advertising campaigns and certain types of images on billboards.

Agreed, shouldn't it be 'opting out' for crying out loud, how much more pandering do this government wanna do to minorities.

Fair enough, if parents are worried about what their kids see, then block it, they already have options to do it, why do we need more?

I should imagine that there will be an awful lot of Dads about, who wish they'd remembered to switch the blockers back on after a few hours in the porn locker.
