something holly said the other day got me thinking. holly was talking about western culture & i realised that i always include new zealand & australia as being western, even though they're well east. new zealand stretches further east than japan, for instance.
is it because they're populated by expats (british & other europeans) from however many generations ago, apart from the original indigenous population, that they're considered western?
