Wasn't really a fan.. didn't go out my way to catch his films.

But what a performance in deliverance. Still some scenes I can't watch.

It's an urban myth. She wrote it in 1973 for Porter Waggoner when she ended their 7 year long professional relationship to go solo. It was to thank him for giving her her big TV break on his show.

Just watching Burt on an old interview on the news, he seemed to regret not taking more serious roles but he did enjoy himself by all accounts and he probably had no regrets about his lifestyle.

I thought he was dead a few years ago until I saw him on a Discovery channel. He gave me many hours of good, funny entertainment. RIP.
