I was once told by a Welsh fellow not to take the anti Enlish stuff too seriously.

He said the welsh hate everyone, starting with the next village up, then different regions of Wales and then everyone else.

Edit to say I've always found them to be friendly enough though.

He was towing a camper trailer thing so presumably thought he'd go camping with his wife.
Around the Bala area are some stunning but very remote areas so he was probably going to escape the city and then being another edition to the shopping problems the shortages the NHS strain etc and had he brought the virus with him from the city?
I understand why the locals are annoyed at such thoughtless behaviour but the pitchfork mentality is very disturbing.

Daughter got stopped by Police last night on her way in to the Welsh town she lives in. They were stopping every car at a big roundabout leading in.

She was fine, was down here when the curfew was announced, worked all week from her Mum's place then headed home with the kids. Maybe checking to make sure no second home or holiday folk come in as well as unnecessary trips?

Snowdonia visitor blocked in by angry locals as police are called to stand-off on country lane
The man from Sheffield was spotted near Bala despite the coronavirus lockdown being in place

A man visiting North Wales from Sheffield amid the coronavirus crisis was blocked on a country road by angry locals as police were called to the confrontation.

The incident took place on Saturday morning on a narrow lane near Bala after locals spotted a Range Rover and trailer in the area.

Police and a Snowdonia National Park warden attended the scene after being alerted by the visitor, who was told to return home.

Aled Wyn Williams, of Parc, Bala, was one of two local men who confronted the visitor at a time when people have been urged to stay at home to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Mr Williams said he was angered by the lack of respect shown by the visitor, and stopped him on the road along with his friend Oswyn Roberts.

"He was heading away from Bala and the main road," said Mr Williams.

"I drove along the road and stopped him. My friend Oswyn Roberts came along behind, blocking him in."

Part of the incident was filmed and Mr Williams said >>>>>>>

I can slowly see people turning against each other and demonising people for very little. Two strangers blocking a man in his car and a hostile jeering crowd harrasing him. All because he was from Sheffield not Bala. In other times, any other time apart from this, it would be the locals the police would caution.
If society is not careful and slightly more forgiving while people adjust to a complete different way of living (I'm not talking about idiots who throw parties for 25 people btw ) then we will end up with no freedom or liberty at all. Police and authority will rule.

It was one man who felt trapped and uneasy who did the wrong thing. So along came locals with pitchforks, cars trapping him so he can't escape..wtf. The locals themselves, were they standing the required distance apart?? And was intimidating this man considered an "essential" reason to abandon self isolating? I'm worried that people will continue to turn on each other and demand more rules and regulations imposed on them. They may just get their wish and not like the consequences.

Societal norms are beginning to break down at the same time community spirit has risen.
People spitting at nurses and calling them disease spreaders is seriously deranged.
Society is at a very very dangerous place right now.
I've even talked with my wife about Welsh nationalism rising and me being driven from the country because I'm English.
Sound far fetched ..... believe me it isn't.
The leader of Plaid Cymru about fifteen years back said the English were a disease and needed eradicating.
Second homes might well be ripe for burning down again soon like what was happening in the 70's.
The veneer of civilisation is very thin.

Mr Jones had commented in Welsh language magazine Barn that "outsiders" coming into Wales were the equivalent of "human foot-and-mouth disease".
He also blamed English migrants for changing the social make-up of traditional Welsh-speaking areas.
"This movement into our Welsh communities means more often than not that house prices increase unfairly so that there is no hope for young people to buy them.
"And from the mouths of these in-migrants comes the language that is familiar to everyone in rural Wales but which is a foreign language
.

This was a time of no crisis.

It looks like an amazing magical place from all the photos im looking at. Altho I do understand that they wouldnt show
any publicity photos of the filthy and crime infested areas.

It’s more about the people Tom. It’s like the equivalent of the American Deep South. The family tree only has one branch, if you get my meaning...
