Have the pilots/air crews who flew the Falklands mission been given a gong?????????? ever.

Maybe its because its one of those things best forgot about , Maggie was losing popularity with this Country The Falklands came at the right time to redeem her .

How can you forget about that episode in history?
It was an extraordinary operation to go all that way just to liberate a handful of British citizens taken hostage by a brutal military regime who disappeared their own people by flying them out into the Atlantic and throwing them out of the back of C130 aircraft at height with no parachute.
That same evil regime only invaded the Falklands to fend off their own growing unpopularity at home.
For evil to succeed good men simply have to do nothing. I suppose you wanted evil to prevail.
There were extraordinary acts of heroism and selflessness on both sides.
War is shit, but in the final analysis the hostage British citizens were freed and the Argentine people rid themselves of that evil regime and reclaimed their freedoms too. A good result for both countries.
Everyone’s a winner.

The conflict came at the right time for Thatcher , History tells us that the Falklands was originally part of Argentina, as you say we liberated just a handful of " British" Citizens , we could have brought them back to this Country given them each a Mansion /Farmland and a flock of sheep and a pension of a million pounds. This would have saved the Tax payer a fortune in the upkeep of the Falklands .
Over the last year we have basically handed Gibralter back to Spain with the Brexit Negotiations without a word being mentioned in the news media , despite 99 % of Gibraltarians voting to remain under British Control , Two sets of Standards

I watched the Typhoon Flying at Bournemouth air show, I reckon it be about 10/11 years gone by, I was amazed on how tight it could turn.
We had a hotel balcony on the sea front directly in front of all the action, fantastic.

We were told if Liz had been coming it was where she would have viewed it from.

I read about that, it was doomed to failure but somehow they just managed to pull it off even though it was totally unnecessary. The lives of the pilots of not only the bombers but the Victor refuelling aircraft were at risk from lack of fuel.

I saw the documentary on that, the longest bombing raid.
So many planes flying to act as fuel tankers for each other just to get one on target.
Brilliant. Highly symbolic, as per the Doolittle raid on Japan, a major morale booster for one side that struck fear into the other by proving they were not out of reach.
The mathematical planning into number of planes and fuel loads was incredible.
The original plane designated to bomb port Stanley had to withdraw shortly after take off because of a leak in pilots canopy but even that event had been factored into the meticulous planning.
The RAF are a very clever outfit, they are at this moment in time involved in probing Russian three tier, supposedly impenetrable, S400 air defence systems and the Russians are concerned.
Typhoons are probing and 2 types of electronic surveillance aircraft, high and low altitude, are examining the electronic warfare information from “attacks” attacks at different altitudes.
S400 is a brilliant system that has a 3rd long missile that can hit orbit and fly down onto targets from above and a blast radius of 300 metres.
Evaluating the reactions of operators of such a 3 tier system will pave the way for best attack methods, and they believe they can defeat it. Just as the Israelis have done already.

The name does ring a bell.

She’s just started her TV career, in terms of your life, so she’s probably too young for you to notice.

Ahhh I don't watch tv haven't really for around forty years and I didn't watch it much then.

I don’t believe you.

Believe what you like.
There are lots of people who don't but obviously not in your world.
Why would someone pretend they don't watch telly?

Early morning telly, on ITV, tax avoider and traitor to Scotland :snooty:

:pmsl:

I don't know anyone who watches her show.

How’s Lorraine a traitor to Scotland? She just seems to be nice and everyone’s friend.
Harmless light entertainment surely?
