Here’s how Elon Musk became the first person ever to lose $200 billion
Elon Musk became the world’s richest person when his wealth reached $340 billion on November 4, 2021. He lost the title early this month to French fashion and cosmetics magnate Bernard Arnault.

Avoidably losing $200Bn is not the act of a rational person.

I heard this on the news today.

Elon Musk reclaims title as richest person in the world, says Bloomberg

Elon Musk is once again the richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a personal net worth of US$187 billion.
Much of Musk’s wealth is tied up in Tesla stock — which took a massive hit in 2022 but has since mostly recovered. It only took the tech CEO two months to reclaim his title.
Bloomberg reports that by the market’s close on Monday, a rally in Tesla stock had bumped Musk ahead of CEO Bernard Arnault, head of the French luxury conglomerate Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), whose net worth is listed as US$185 billion.

He must be doing something right.

Twitter chief executive Elon Musk rallied a team of roughly 80 engineers to reconfigure the platform’s algorithm so his tweets would be more widely viewed, tech news site Platformer has reported.

A disgruntled Musk called for an emergency effort after a tweet he sent during Sunday’s Super Bowl game failed to achieve as much engagement as a tweet from Joe Biden, interviews and internal documents reviewed by Platformer have revealed.

The effort was sparked when a tweet from the president, who has 37m followers, generated nearly 29m impressions while a similar tweet from Musk – who has 128m followers – generated little more than 9.1m impressions.

This is a part of a wider problem. Those still on Twitter have noted for some time that their feeds are being cluttered with whatever brain fart Elon Musk just had to such an extent that users have actively blocked him. Elon Musk has had the algorithim rewritten so that his Tweets bypass any filters that anyone has.

So if you don't want to know about anything but Disney Cartoons and My Little Pony now your account will tell you about Disney Cartoons, My Little Pony and Elon Musk's latest brain fart.

Don't believe what I tweet says Elon.

This allegedly relates to the real reason he bought Twitter.

For years now it has been said that Musk has been using Twitter to manipulate stock prices by cliamining an interest in buying stocks he is actually selling, saying he is divesting from companies he never held any stock in and shorting them and indicating this or that company is due to get a big order that never materialises but benefiting from the increase in the stock price.

Were Elon Musk to do any of those things in traditional media it would be a slam dunk fraud case - no questions asked - the full Bernie Madoff scenario and off to a lifetime vacation at Club Fed.

He didn't do them in traditional media he did them on Twitter.

He also put up posts and then deleted them and then referred to deleted posts - basically a lot of what he did was very, very shady and Twitter were going to turn over thousands of records they kept to the SEC.

And now those records aren't available, the people who used to know where they were work elsewhere and Twitter has policies that will be very obstructive to any investigation of his alleged wrongdoing.

$200 Billion well spent keeping Elon out of prision?

Unsurprisingly, Fenix is now dead as Twitter have now (un)officially killed off third party apps.

I think that's pretty much all of them gone now.

Worth every penny. The free version works well enough as well.

Sadly it doesn't work, Musk stopped access to the API from third parties and gutted @TwitterSupport, the only chance you have to resolve issues is to contact Spacex and hope that someone gives a shit :dunno:

Tweetdeck is working for now but I kept getting random requests from the Twitter app all day to confirm posts that I had made days ago that have replies and likes :dunno:

Interesting. I've got AdGuard installed on my iPhone and I don't see a single ad in safari on Twitter.com.

The official Twitter app, of course, is a different thing entirely.

Fenix is one of the few third party iOS apps still working that's ad-free, so I'm using that but I'm not sure if the Android version works.

The Taliban are now a verified account on Twitter.

Let me click on this link to who knows where and give someone I don't know permission to take all my personal data from my Twitter/Facebook account and share it with whoever the fuck they want?'

If one good thing came out of the Brexit referendum and election of Donald Trump it was the exposure of just how much data was being put out there by social media users and just how easy it was to use that data to manipulate them using it,

At it's most relevant Twitter was only the fifth most used social media platform and when I last heard it's way down at 15th - just barely above reddit.

Pretty soon this Forum will have more users, and I'm not expecting stoo to get a few million more members

Doesn't that work with all adds online no matter which platform you're using?

No but it all gets a bit technical and boring beyond that word.

Some companies, and some platforms, and some countries have rules that restrict what data that can be collected, shared and used. There are different interpretations about the level and specificity of consent required to have your personal data shared.

I'll give credit to this forum because it doesn't have ads and it doesn't collect personal data - stoo says he operates the forum at a small profit, and more power to him, but I have no idea how. And while we're in that space all due gratitude to the moderators like yourself who (I understand) work unpaid to keep this place running.

Awww, thank you CJ :more beer:
