This is a very sad story.

Peter and Elspeth Tocher from Aberdeen had five sons.

Peter, John, James, Robert and George and they all served in the Gordon Highlanders.

All five of the Tocher lads were killed in the First World War.

Mr Tocher was so angry at the deaths of his five sons, he enlisted so he could go and fight.

However he wasn't allowed as officials deemed he was to old for Military Service and they were worried he would be killed as well.

A World War Two Paratrooper who survived being shot four times in the conflict, passed away on Remembrance Sunday at 11am as the last post was played.

Ralph Jones who was 93, was seriously wounded in the Normandy Landings in June 1944.

Ralph was due to be reunited with two of his old comrades at the weekend at a surprise birthday his family had planned for him.

Check out the service numbers. They joined together, trained together and died together.

The glorious fallen.

This would have been my Gran's birthday today and the anniversary of my Granda's death.

My Gran never really celebrated her birthday after my Granda died.
