About 10 years ago I think I must have had it. I felt like I was about to keel over and die and missed almost a month of work because I just couldn’t find the energy to do anything. I slept for most of the day and night. It was after that actually that I found the need for an inhaler. I couldn’t shake the chest cough that came with being ill.

Most ‘colds’ for me tend to last about a week and end up being mostly nasal congestion and a cough. The tiredness is a day or two at most.

I agree with those who say that most people are exaggerating when they say they have the flu. Of course colds make you feel like crap, but flu is completely debilitating.

I get the flu jag each year because I have Asthma.

That's my inhalers.

Two puffs of the pink one in the morning and at night and the blue one when I need it during day.

Thankfully I've never had the flu.

You can't possibly know that.
I might as well say not having the flu jab worked for me.
Each year is an untried untested experiment.

Well I’ve been having it on and off for about 8 years and the times I don’t have it I’ve had the worst flu, the kind that incapacitates you for days. So, it works for me. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.

I wouldn't call getting flu repeatedly lucky.
Maybe you've not much natural immunity to flu?

I have the flu jab annually, but it's amazing how many doctors and nurses refuse it.

I can't remember the last time I had genuine flu.

I had flu some years back.... death would’ve been an easier option! :thud:.... makes me laugh when people are up and about, snivelling and sneezing etc.... and claim to have flu!

They know it will compromise their immune systems and that's the last thing they need.

No doofus, I don’t get flu whenever I’d had the jab :gigglesnshit:
My immunity used to be really low for everything which is why I needed the jab. Much better now except with flu.

I had flu 3 years back, it was scary as hell. I've had a flu jab for years and will continue to do so - but Jack is right to doubt its effectiveness.

It's the science that shows its ineffectiveness.
I've never had a flu jab I've had flu once and like Azz says it's scary!
I was hallucinating in a soaking wet bed.
It was when we were being told the 45 minute bollox about Saddam.
I was convinced in my madness he'd got me.
Couldn't eat or breath.
The bedding was being changed a number of times a day and it was wringing wet again in no time.

I just wish I'd read it a couple of weeks ago when I had a chesty cough and couldn't get rid of it. I've always had problems with my chest since I was a child, getting bronchitis quite regularly and even having pleurisy a couple of times.

I had a inhaler prescribed for me a few years ago and never bothered to get a repeat prescription for it, I have to see my G P in a couple of weeks regarding a MRI referral, I'll mention it at the appointment. But will definitely try the steaming next time it happens, the bonus being it gives my pores a deep clean!

I had the flu jab in November last year and strangely this year I've had a bad couple of colds, it's the third year I've had the jab and the first time it hasn't worked that well, it's usually my husband who gets the bad colds after having the jab, he has to have it because he's T2 diabetic.

Will definitely try some of the suggestions though.

Catching colds has nothing to do with the flu Cat.
I'm T2 and I don't have to do anything.
Defid all the NHS advice and am in total control of the T2 to a degree far beyond those that take the official advice.
I have never had and never will have a flu jab as I see it as one of the biggest cons going.
The highest results are 11% but many scientists put it as low as 6% effective.
It's questioned how they can come to any reliable figure.
Many say it doesn't work at all.
