My last school closed down and houses were built on the site after my old man cleared it.
I have just been reminded that the wrought iron gates are working on one of our properties
I remember now, someone nicked the hinges or threw them away and the blacksmith made some more.

My last but one grown up watch was Rolex but when they wanted £400, yes four hundred quid to service it I sold it.
Now I have a Seconda which keeps good time.
Paying out £thousands for fancy watches nd handbags is crazy, wish our lot would learn.

Buying Rolex is money in the bank for a rainy day, the taxman cannot get you then.

My first watch was an Ingersoll too. I got it one Christmas and it was sooooo exciting!

Here's one for my stalker guest to have a pop at:
The first talking watch (as told to me when given it) was a green box shaped affair with plastic strap overly large and too cumbersome to be put into production.
It was a prototype and on display in a cabinet along with some other advanced not in general production stuff in a Japanese banks entrance hall.
I think this was around 1981/2.
Two of the items were nicked from the display cases somehow and ended up in my possession.
The other thing was the worlds first miniature portable tv with a one inch screen.
I'm guessing the size might have been slightly bigger but the whole thing was smaller little bit thicker than a cassette tape and looked very flash and was called 21st Century tv.
At the time they were amazing to look at and operate but would seem pretty bland now.
I found a safe customer because it wasn't easy to sell these things openly and was on my way to the guy with them in the glove compartment when I was pulled by the drug squad and hoisted off for full search whilst my car was searched in a carpark where they stopped me.
There was also a very advanced musical keyboard guitar style and something else.
I was given the car keys back at the police station when they were kicking me out without any charges and was told... we've cleaned the rubbish out of your car for you. They'd nicked everything interesting.
I doubt they realised where the watch and TV had come from but they were pieces of technology seen by very few people before and they just couldn't resist.
There you go guest.
