You probably could if they have a low IQ or are going through some major emotional turmoil in their life.
But it would take someone completely lacking in moral fibre to want to do that to another person. Or someone who has an inflated ego/ god complex.

I don't know what to say about this show other than it's utterly mind-blowing.

It's a one off special by Derren Brown, a psychological social experiment which asks given our innate need for social compliance and acceptance, and given the right set of circumstances, could you get an ordinary, moral person to do bad things, even commit murder.

Astounding.
