This seems an appropriate place to share a random act of kindness I witnessed.
I was in the queue at a supermarket where a woman had clearly filled her shopping basket with a little more than what she had budgeted for.
From what I could see there was nothing luxurious in there, milk, bread, eggs, baby milk. I think saw some reduced price chicken thighs - which is pure surmise because they had a yellow sticker on which normally means reduced price- that kind of stuff. However as meager as the shopping basket was the till showed she had spent a few pounds more than she had available. She was just starting to look at what to put back on the shelf when the next person in the queue tapped his contactless card to pay for all her shopping.
It wasn't all in the world, the whole lot couldn't have come to more than £20 tops, and cmy first thought they were good friends, or at least reasonably well known to each other. That wasn't the case, the young woman's reaction made it clear that she didn't have a clue who her benefactor was.
That's it. I don't know any details of either party but it was just a nice moment to witness.
Best part - and I loved this - when being praised for their kindness by other shoppers the benefactor just said the woman was "probably going to take all day" fussing over what to put back and it was worth the money just to get her out of the way.
