Aye I really enjoyed it.

Karen Matthews complained the actress who played her was too ugly for the part.

she had some cheek saying that.

I re-read a book about the Shannon Matthews case last week.

It's ten years since Shannon was 'Kidnapped ' it's still hard to believe, her mother thought she would get away with that.

Wasn’t it her boyfriend or his uncle or something that came up with the whole idea? KM seems a bit dim for it. Not that it was a brilliant plan.

I wonder if the flowers sent to her stepmum were a dig that Ruth knew, she must have been having an affair with her dad?

Plus why did the family refuse help in trying to find Ruth?

Surely you would take all offers of help if your child was missing?

The strange story of a 16 year old girl who vanished into thin air.

Ruth Wilson left some letters, an empty bottle of painkillers and an empty bottle of alcohol at the place she was last seen alive.

She also arranged for a bunch of flowers to be delivered to her stepmum two days after she vanished.

Ruth and her sister has been brought up by their dad and stepmum after their mum died in a tragic accident, when they were wee.

However shortly before Ruth vanished, she discovered her mum hadn't fallen down the stairs and broken her neck..

She had infact hanged herself and her dad had married the woman he worked beside, within a year of it happening.

May 1991 in the seaside town of Castlerock in Northern Ireland and the bodies of two people - police officer Trevor Buchanan and nurse Lesley Howell - are found in a car filled with carbon monoxide. Their spouses were having an affair and apparently the pair are so distraught they have taken their own lives.
Their adulterous spouses - Sunday school teacher Hazel Buchanan and dentist Colin Howell - had met in the local Baptist Church. Following the apparent double-suicide, they continued their affair secretly for some time but both later remarried.
A series of disasters in Howell's life - the death of his eldest son, substantial losses in an investment scam, and the revelation that he had been sexually assaulting sedated female patients - led to him declaring that he was a fraud, a godless man and telling the elders of his church that he and Hazel Stewart had conspired together to murder their spouses nearly two decades earlier. That confession led to two of the most sensational murder trials ever seen in the United Kingdom, Howell's conviction for murder in December 2010 and Stewart's in March 2011, despite her protestations of innocence.
Distinguished journalist Deric Henderson has been all over this story since it broke. Now, for Let This Be Our Secret , he has carried out extensive interviews with close relatives, friends and associates of Colin and Lesley Howell and Trevor Buchanan and Hazel Stewart. He has examined the 1991 police investigation that failed to detect a crime. And he has also explored how the affair embarrassed and then scandalised the Baptist Church. In Let This Be Our Secret Henderson has produced the definitive account of one of the most extraordinary murder cases to hit these islands for decades.

Thanks for letting me know about this Guesty.

I'm about to read a book called 'Bloodbath' is about the hunt for a serial killer in America.

One victim was stabbed 83 times with a screwdriver and the police officers just couldn't catch him.

The search wasn't helped by someone saying all serial killers are white and this serial killer was black.

What makes it all the more shocking is the murderer had inside knowledge of the police investigation and was at every police briefing.

He was a serving police officer!!

I've also read the book Nikitta's mum wrote about the murders, which is why I know so much about it.

Marcia Grender said that some acts of kindness after the murders, helped her get through it.

Marcia wanted to buy Kelsey-May a special dress for the funeral and knew where she would get one.

A posh baby boutique owned by an Indian man.

She picked the dress she wanted, but put it back, when she saw the price and at that moment the owner appeared and said "Pick what you like and we will take of it" So she picked the dress back up and also picked a wee coat, tights and a hat.

When she saw the total at the till, her eyes were out stocks and thought he must be going to let me pay for it in installments.

He then said "Put your purse away this is a gift with our deepest condolences"

True Crime.

Post by Vicky » Sun May 27, 2018 6:55 am

As someone who watches a lot of true crime documentaries, I thought, I would start a thread and post the documentaries I've watched recently.

The first case is probably one of the most shocking crimes to have been committed in the UK.

Nikitta Grender was raped and stabbed to death by her boyfriend's cousin.

What makes this case so horrific is Nikitta was eight and a half months pregnant and after Carl Whant raped and stabbed Nikitta in the throat, he then stabbed in her in stomach.

Nikitta had already named her unborn daughter Kelsey-May and she was also killed in the attack.

Whant even killed Nikitta's wee pug dog Missy.

He then set the house on fire and hoped it would destroy the evidence and the fire would be treated as a tragic accident.

However a simple question from a senior officer to an officer at the scene, quickly established it was a crime.

"Was the victim in the fetal position" "No she was lying on her back"

More than 90% of fire victims are found in the fetal position, because they try and make themselves as small as possible"

An investigation was launched and it wasn't long before Carl Whant was arrested and charged with rape, murder, arson and child destruction.

During the murder trial, Whant told lie after lie but thankfully the jury saw through it and he was found guilty and sentenced to a minimum of 35 years.

He appealed his sentence saying it was too harsh, but the judge threw the appeal out.

Nikitta, Kelsey-May and Missy are all buried together in a cemetery in Wales.
