It doesn't seem to matter how secure your own email account is, if you send personal emails to anyone it could all end up on a forum.

I think that is probably a good assumption. Now all that is needed is a common denominator.

Dunno - maybe they guessed it if it was something obvious. Some people will try that kind of thing for ages I suppose - putting in one guess after another.
