wasn't blackpool mecca a huge place for northern soul music? It has been demolished now to make way for a college. I remember it being in the paper loads of people there to see it

Yes it was. I believe that Ian Levine used to be DJ there - he's quite famous in Northern Soul land.
I read that people could buy pieces of the dance floor when it was demolished.

NS, speaking of Ian Levine, you might recognise the chap in this video as you're an X Factor fan. Ian Levine came up with the idea to put the band together.
It was recorded in 1999 but made to sound like authentic 60s northern soul.
