On BBC2 tonight. :yess:

Thrill to a top tv drama whilst benefitting from a history lesson. :smilin:

It's a cracking series, although the Satanic Inspector Campbell has now gone to visit Hades on a permanent basis (Sam is a very underrated actor in my opinion).

Great cast, great score, great acting, great story - what's not to like?

There is a thread on DS if you ever fancy reading it.

Time to go offline for now though. :smilin:

I've enjoyed watching it in the past but it feels like it's had its day now. There's no meat left, even the violence is boring.

Ok I take it back, it got really good at the end. Back to their gypsy roots, more interesting once Tommy figured they will never be allowed to fit it.

Oh ye of little faith. :snooty:

I thought it was a cracking finale.

Of course Tommy has made a deal with Winston, it's obvious and without his protection Tom and the rest of them would all have been taking a dirt nap long ago.

This is very clever writing and the fact that he was a tunneler with a distinguished war record is why Winnie admires him so much despite his crimes (and also gives us a tinge of sympathy for a very ruthless man).

They all played a blinder and Paddy and Tom were the icing on the cake, unlike some I find Alfie to be a fantastic character and it's a real shame that we only see him for a few episodes a series - his speech to Tom was outstanding.

It was such poetic justice that the abused killed the abuser when Micheal stabbed Father John right through the throat and up into his sadistic brain.

By the way it is fun to think of Ada compared to Honoria and Charlie with Scrooge from the superb Dickensian (which sadly never got another run) from earlier this year.

Great stuff - roll on series four and five.

I agree with the above Keys I'm just impatient and the Russains thing seemed pointless initially.
However, the Nick Cave theme is the icing on the cake.
