A lot of Brits don’t quite get it I think, that’s why it’s not so popular over here. It’s regarded as the best comedy tv series ever in the States. Larry David is the co creator you mean.

I introduced my husband to CYE when I moved over to the UK. He loves it.

Apparently the character of George Costanza in Seinfeld IS Larry. :gigglesnshit: And he also did the voice of George Steinbrenner, the NY Yankees manager/owner who George ends up working for at some point, IIRC. We never actually see Larry in the role, just the voice.

Hello Lady M :smilin:
I watched it mostly when I lived in Australia, and sometimes I put episodes on YouTube ...I loved it...... but maybe Dean is right, different sense of humour over here. :dunno:

Yes La Plante made two crackers there, what a screenwriter.

Yes she was great, along with Widows and the other two mentioned her early stuff was great, when some of the more modern stuff with weird recording methods came along that's when she lost me, but her writing was always spot on.

Hi Sunny. I don’t think it was broadcast here when it was big everywhere else, unless it was on during the daytime.
Maybe our channels couldn’t afford it if it was so big in the states.

If it’s anything like the Curb humour I can’t see why brits wouldn’t get it.

We watched a few series of that and I can't remember now why we stopped. But Dennis Franz was good in it. :smilin:

lol

It was quite a while ago I watched it so it's hard to remember where I got to.
I remember bits but won't say in case you haven't seen that part yet.
It's not easy to find where you left off sometimes, but I must try and look back on it sometime. :smilin:

I went through the episodes last night and discovered I had watched right up to the end of series 5
I was quite surprised I had got that far. Now I have read back on them and caught up with what is going on it's made me want to watch the next 6 now. :yess:

I saw Jerome Flynn last night on Ripper Street and it reminded me how much I used to love watching Soldier Soldier.

I'm sure this clip must have been partly responsible for the start of the Robson and Jerome Duo. :smilin:

Mind you, I hated his wife Donna doing the dirty on him with someone else while he was singing!!!! :bawlin:

Never watched Soldier Soldier but Jerome is fantastic in Ripper Street. That’s the sign of a really good actor- to be able to play such different roles so well.

Same here.

His beautifully nuanced performance as the haunted hardman with a heart - Bennet Drake - in Ripper Street was just wonderful to watch.

Also apparently Jerome is excellent in GOT as Bronn as well (still never watched that despite having the first four series on DVD).

Here is a heart-rending scene from series 3.
