Are there any anglers on here??

Tell where you fished and how you did, any tips? baits used??

I have stopped angling nowadays but still interested.

I tried it as a kid, starbold, but I lost my tackle in the lake - some traumas never heal. :gigglesnshit:

If you haven't done already, watch all episodes of the TV show Go Fishing, I'm sure even you as an angler will learn a few things from the master.

You could have simply said coarse fishing and posted a single link.

I could have, but that's me being helpful, as one does.

Have you got a useful contribution to this thread about fishing?

Fair enough. Ironically trolling is a term used in fishing.

A different way to catch plaice other small flatfish, e.g. flounder, dab.

You'll need a rowing boat (say 10-15 ft in length), a silver/white spoon, light sea rod (7-8 ft), 5-15 lb line breaking strain (5-10 lb for the trace), weight, swivel, multiplier reel (preferably), lugworm as bait.

Attach a lugworm to the hook on the spoon, dangle it overboard with a weight and a trace to the spoon, until the weight hits the bottom. Then let out a few more metres of line. Stick the sea rod (light test curve) over the back of the boat and start rowing with the tide. This will only work if it's a sandy bottom/sea bed, otherwise your tackle will get snagged on the sea bed.

The interested plaice will think it's a smaller plaice with a worm and try to steal it and in doing so get themselves hooked up.

Garfish.

They don't get very big, but they put up a helleva fight weight for weigh on light tackle. They can be easily caught using rubber eels or shiny spinners from a light rod stuck over the back of a boat or even hand held when trolling with a small outboard, and quite often will skim on their tails out of the water when being hauled in. They may even jump into the boat without assistance if you have a low gunnel.

Mackerel are dead easy to catch and put up a very good fight, using the same type of method as for garfish.

River Monsters was always good fun if very formulaic - of course he knew what species he was after right from the start.

Loved the Goliath Tigerfish episode. :cuppaT:
