Insulting 1% for front-line NHS heroes

The government has earmarked more than £9m for creating a US-style “situation room” at Whitehall – the latest in a series of expensive refurbishments that have drawn criticism, given the 1% pay offer proposed for NHS staff.

The government has spent more than £2.6m on renovations to No 9 Downing Street so it can hold televised question and answer sessions with journalists there, it was recently revealed. The launch of the briefings has been delayed indefinitely by the pandemic.

Labour’s deputy leader, Angela Rayner, blasted the revamp of No 9 as indicative of the prime minister’s priorities.

She said: “It would take around 100 years for a newly qualified nurse to get paid this kind of money. It sums up Boris Johnson’s warped priorities that he can find millions for vanity projects, while picking the pockets of NHS workers.”

The 'situation' is this.

A 2.1% pay increase was agreed as a part of a multi-year deal to compensate for years of below inflation pay rises that left the NHS demoralised, underfunded and not fit for purpose to such an extent even the Tories were forced to do something to fix it. Not to help low paid staff but because this was 2019 and Boris was planning a winter election where a walk-out by NHS staff wouldn't have looked good.

Election is over and despite overseeing the toughest year in the history of the NHS where thousands of doctors and nurses literally gave their lives in the service of others Boris unilaterally reneged on that deal.

Is it a big shock that nurses don't like that?

We can't afford it is bollox.
We have to have even more austerity is also bollox.
There are massive amounts of private billions that could be hit with large one off raids that would go a long way to alleviating the countries problems.
There's also the reality that many billionaires have said they should be taxed more they would be happy to be taxed more to hold society together in a fairer more stable way but no it's the poorest who foot the bills yet again.
I suspect this time there's going to be some serious backlash.
I'm expecting to see protests marches and maybe riots.
This cannot be the formula yet again but they do have a stupid prince and his black wife and baby to distract the public with for now.

Protests are already in the planning stage, in 10 cities over 5 days in June.

People are stirring...

Do you think that nurses pay should be linked to the colour of their skin?

Only right wing Tories think stuff like that.

However, thee pair of them do appear to be a great diversionary tactic from the daily drip feed of Tory corruption.

After throwing away the lives of many nurses, carers and health professionals Boris Johnson is insulting those lucky enough to have survived with a £3.50 a week pay rise

Don't spend it all at once and look at how nicely we clap for you when the TV cameras on are

They don't have to buy the same food as i do. They can get it whole sale!
