And when you've imagined that, imagine you've been chosen by your favourite hallucination to do his bidding on earth. Imagine tripping permanently, imagine giving the order to invade Iraq. Drugs are a whole lot safer than religion.

No. I was recalling a drug-addled hippie I once met who believed he'd encountered god on acid and was contrasting it with Blair's statement that he'd "spoken with god" (or words to that effect) prior to his decision to invade Iraq.

If we (humankind) were starting again and with the benefit of hindsight I wonder which we would consider the most harmful, drugs or religion, and which one would we outlaw.

Knowing us we'd probably make the same mistakes again and again!

John Travolta turned away from KFC in Britain

EAST GRINSTEAD, England, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Actor John Travolta was turned away from a KFC in south east Britain after trying to reserve a table at the fried chicken restaurant.

Staff at the East Grinstead branch of the fast food chain said they thought a prankster was calling to reserve a table for the actor, although it was later discovered the Hollywood actor was actually in town for a Church of Scientology event.
