Two thirds of Brits want powers restored to Westminster

Two thirds of Brits want powers restored to Westminster

Postby Europoll » Sat Oct 29, 2011 2:19 pm

The British public are overwhelmingly in favour of clawing back a wide range of powers from Brussels. And a clear majority say that we should refuse to sign any new EU treaty until that happens. According to an exclusive poll for the Daily Mail, more than two-thirds believe the European Union has become over-mighty and want the Prime Minister to start repatriating powers on everything from immigration and human rights to employment law and fishing policy.

Obviously accurate when you look at the two thirds majority that UKIP got in the last general election :gigglesnshit:

Two thirds? That is a lot of people but many want to stay in eu with more power restored to domestic governments and that is a matter of great concern. The entire idea of a federal europe can never come to fruition unless bruxelles is empowered with full powers over tax, banking and laws. It is a case of all or nothing and there really is no point going back now.

One day the word will have one currency,no borders and all will be subject to the same laws and a proper european nation would be a worthy first step.

So according to the Daily Mail

More than two-thirds of Britons believe the EU has become over-mighty
So if we were to work on the basis that there are 6 million people in this country, that means that over 4 million buy the Daily Mail and all of them completed the poll.

They go on to say

90% of Tory voters want repatriation, with 60% believing negotiations should begin immediately
So every single Tory voter buys the Daily Mail and every one of them completed the poll. (I've never bought the Daily Mail in my life)

Then they say

Just 13% of supporters of all parties believe Brussels does not have too much power and that reform is unnecessary
To obtain that as a true figure every single voter in this country must buy the Daily Mail and responded to the poll. Do you buy it?

In reality of course their figures are based on 1142 people responding to the poll and therefore their figures are totally meaningless. It amazes me that there are still people out there that believe anything printed in that 'news' paper.

I was not aware the power had gone out in Westminster. How do they find their way to the Cabinet?

Cyber activists love to spam an agenda using that paper to further their prejudices. Two weeks ago the Mail called for something that, when Labour proposed it, they went absolutely mental - further press regulation. :pmsl: :pmsl:

That paper/website is just so negative about everything, except the Atkins Diet or some ickle wildlife pic lifted from another paper/site

No power has been reduced since Thatcher/Major passed certain acts between 1979-97.

People's perceptions is that it has due to numerous untrue media stories, incorrect opinions from morons like Melanie Phillips, the usual Europhobic slant from the gutter press and the constant repeating of lies.
