He gave as good as he got and he was right about the Euro all along. People thought of their love for the pound so much by backing William Hague's Election Save The Pound in 2001, didn't they?

Oh wait :gigglesnshit:

Paxman let him have the last word cos he thought sorry for him.

He was wrong about the EURO then and now.

We will never join the Euro under the Conservatives at any rate.

Mandelson wanted to.

If rules were changed.

The rules were not changed. The rules WILL NOT change SOON. They Conservative have not said they would absolutely NEVER join just in the next 5 years. Their policy is just like Labour if they can have control over taxation AND interest rates they would consider joining but NOT in the immediate future. If a referendum was successful for joining they would accept it.

So did Hague's Keep The Pound election promise win?

But the Business Secretary, speaking at a university in Paris, said: 'We already have the eurozone providing a single central bank, currency and monetary policy, which one day I believe Britain will be part of.
'Don't ask me when. It's not going to be soon, but we will do it.'
