My kids went to the elementary school in our city, that catered to most of the special needs kids. I wonder if it's better to mix these kids in the general population, or have special schools where everyone is on or near the same wave length.

It did give both my daughters a chance to participate in Special Olympics. My youngest played on a basketball team that fielded 2 "normal" kids and 3 special needs kids. All were in elementary school. Some of the teams came from assisted living homes and they were comprised of 30 year old men. You should have seen the look on her eyes when she lined up against them.

I don't think trinity understands your sense of humour. But then as again no one else does either.

Yeah I suspect it depends on the particular school. The Upper school I went to used to have a open day each year where kids from the local special needs school would come and spend the day being paired up with 10th-11th year pupils - doing activities, sports, etc. Some students would put the effort in and make the special needs kids feel welcome, others were a bit twattish about it.
