I ask this question seriously.....I spend a lot of time in and out of airports.....To me it seems there are more people now than there ever was......If there is a recession..surely people could not travel to the extent they do...The Planes I was on during flights to Moscow.....then Dubai...and back were packed....and all airports were seething with travellers....I wonder where the recession is....Do you have any idea......

I think you will find there was a deep strain of socialism within the Irish Republican movement... as was the case at the time (late-19thC - early 20thC was a high tide for socialism/communism across Europe). Ken Loach's The Wind that Shakes the Barley touches on the issue (and how it was sidelined by the more nationalist element within the movement - selling out the Irish working class for political expiediency)
