I bet some twat will reckon it is Stalin's favourite tune.

Shame Stalin liked some jazz including people like Леони́д О́сипович Утёсов.

How did he stick up for Stalin?

He simply stated that Stalin liked jazz. Ken Clarke likes Jazz too, so does Jools Holland.

Here's a thing Stalin was very taken by the music of Prokofiev.
Prokofiev's first name was Sergei.
The name of the computer programmer in the 'Compare the Market' ads is Sergei.
So everyone who has been to the Compare the Market website has been indoctrinated by Stalin.

........................................Sorry I was just trying out your logic to see if it works... It doesn't.

As to the OP: there is no debate about whether we are in recession or not, without a doubt we are. The real question is whether we are in a depression or not, given that the economy is taken longer to recover (i.e reach pre-crash levels) than the Great Depression, and any downturn since**. Some are using the term 'the Great Recession' which seems like an attempt to acknowledge that this recession is more than just a bogstandard downturn without having to use the dreaded 'depression' label.
