The real question is whether we are in a depression or not, given that the economy is taken longer to recover (i.e reach pre-crash levels) than the Great Depression, and any downturn since**. Some are using the term 'the Great Recession' which seems like an attempt to acknowledge that this recession is more than just a bogstandard downturn without having to use the dreaded 'depression' label.
