I have just spotted this thread and thought I should add this:

This comes from www.building.co.uk - a reputable online building trade magazine:

"...It also said it should not take a serious fire in which many people are killed before all reasonable steps are taken towards minimising the risks. This advice was not incorporated into the 2010 revision of Part B."

The cladding was put there for aesthetic reasons,to suit the new wealth that moved into area. I lived in that area for area for years, it has changed beyond recognition. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/201 ... m=facebook
