Grenfell Tower cladding is banned in the UK, Chancellor says

The flammable cladding used at Grenfell Tower is not banned merely in the US and Europe but in the UK too, he claims.

So will May's government support a criminal prosecution of Kensington & Chelsea?

They have no choice in the matter, complaints to the Met Police have been made against RBKC staff.

We had lots of immediate arrests after the Manchester bombings with intelligence services seeming to be in 'the know'. But nothing after this when it effects those in power.

Yes Tories did but this time there can be no cover up and no excuses about the inquiry and prejudice.
The world is watching.

I'm still finding this all very ambiguous.

A recent report, that somebody quoted here (from the Gurnaadi or the Indy' IIRC) said that the cladding they used was £250k cheaper than another type of cladding which was more fire-retardant even though both types of cladding adhered to the same standard.

If the cladding IS banned in the UK then I don't see how it can have adhered to any standard, much less the same standard as a more fire-retardant cladding.

Seems like there are a variety of people/groups involved in this who all have an interest in shifting the blame so I'm wary of taking anything at face-value, until the facts are properly established. :ooer:

Director of Grenfell Tower insulation provider 'is government adviser'

Technical director of Saint Gobain UK, which makes Celotex insulation, is reportedly also on the Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC), which advises Sajid Javid

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/ho ... 17936.html

A senior executive from the company that made the insulation fitted to Grenfell Tower is reportedly an adviser to the government on building regulations.

Mark Allen, technical director of Saint Gobain UK, which makes Celotex insulation, is on the Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC), The Times reported.

The committee is a non-departmental public body that advises Sajid Javid, the Communities and Local Government Secretary, on making building regulations and setting standards for the design and construction of buildings.

Who would have guessed that putting a person who profits from lax regulation in charge of regulation would be a bad idea :dunno:

If Labour had done this the Tories would have been screaming on here but because Tories did it they are sitting on their hands. :hand:
