In the EU they will look at our displeasure and concern with blind indifference and if we still keep cutting up rough, they'll just do to us what Stalin did to the Ukraine. There is no 'getting rid' of the ruling elite of Brussels, they are there forever.

Even you have to admit, the changes which took place in this country from the beginning to the end of the 20th century are immeasurable in relation to the ordinary working classes lifestyles. We did all of that alone, no help from outside - we the people did it with far more powerful people in control than we have today.

We at least have a semblence of power for change, our politicians still care what we think. Under EU control they'll look at us as no more than an annoying wasp buzzing around their bier stein.

The counter-argument is that an independent Britain is more susceptible to the whims of international capital. A left wing EU can stand up to global capitalism better than a left wing UK. The 1970's showed this - Labour government was driven into the hands of the IMF by an attack on its economy and the IMF demanded the same neo-liberal reform that have been the norm now for 40+ years.

Those change took place within a global situation much different today - namely the threat of communist revolution was everywhere.

As one Tory at the time put it: if we don't give them reforms they will give us revolution.

And the doing it alone arguement doesn't hold up too much as UK had a empire to exploit in order to pay for these reforms (along with the financial help of the Yanks). Its no coincidence that the same Labour Government that gave us the NHS was also responsible for killing trade unionist in places like Malaysia. We couldn't pay them more, we needed the money for the NHS.

This is what I mean by the UK public wanting it, its not going to be easy - as McDonnell point out at the conference there will be an attack on the pound as international capital tries to bully a Corbyn led UK into submitting.

Go look at Sports Direct 800,000 sq ft. warehouse complex at Shirebrook or the new Amazon 'fulfilment' centre in Tilbury for prime examples.

Don't know much about Shirebrook apart from it being known locally as the 'Gulag' and was being staffed almost exclusively by Poles on zero hour contracts at minimum wage, working under oppressive and humiliating conditions at the mercy of abusive lower and middle management.

No doubt it is being run on a similar basis to SD. Local propaganda and radio advertising says it's created 1500 new jobs for the area and for 'Londoners' :roll: reality tells you that at £7.65ph rising to a life changing £8.15ph after two years, it gives plenty of scope for British workers to work themselves to death on overtime trying to earn enough to live and raise a family in Britain.

Of course that won't happen because it will be staffed by some of the EU's massive and growing army of transient workers who don't have to live here permanently, for them it's a dream come true.

Always believe a company should pay one a decent wage to live on without doing over time, there’s plenty company’s that pay shit wage were folk have work all hours , then there’s people like myself earns a decent wage to live off , but will work all hours just because we enjoy work

It's already been cracked down on and sorted by our own HSE and MP's who were on the scene when the whole thing got exposed. :hand:

We still have unions, more importantly though what we have now that we didn't have then is the 'internet' and 24/7 wall to wall news looking for stories to fill up the dead air space.

Add that to governments and businesses petrified of bad publicity which goes viral quicker than the common cold and things get truned around very quickly. As soon as the Sports Direct fiasco was exposed, Mike Ashley was at Shirebrook sacking people left, right and centre and taking over personal control of changes in their working practices, before MP's could even get themselves out of bed. And when they eventually did, they were all over him like a cheap suit.

As a client state of the EU the MP's would have just held up their hands in faux dismay and told us "it's all down to the EU there is nothing they can do", whilst Ashley would have sat back and laughed, knowing that it would take the EU years before they did anything, if they did anything at all.

You only need look at how the EU have acted toward the UK since we told them "Thanks but no thanks, we've had 40 years of the Euro boys club and it's not for us" Do you really think they'd treat us any better if they had complete and total control over us? .... if you do then you are delusional. :shake head:

Remainers are the turkeys, trying to convince us it's good to place our faith in a giant European sage and onion stuffing producer.

Girl, 13, finds help me note stuffed inside Amazon Christmas parcel describing bosses as evil.

A Mum says her teenage daughter discovered a "help me" note hidden inside an Amazon Christmas delivery. Kim Dorsett said April, 13, found the words scrawled onto an invoice inside a £30 make-up advent calendar ordered by her dad Philip.

The note said: "Help me please, PMP staff are evil."

PMP is the recruitment agency used by Amazon to fill jobs at its distribution sites. The discovery comes just over a week after a Sunday Mirror investigation exposed shocking working conditions inside Amazon's huge warehouse in Tilbury, Essex. Our exposé found exhausted warehouse staff were falling asleep on their feet as they chased impossible targets.

A parcel is expected to be packed and ready every 30 seconds.

PMP said the note is not "an accurate or fair representation" of the experiences of the people it recruits, but is investigating the incident alongside Amazon.

A Sunday Mirror reporter spent five weeks undercover at Amazon's Tilbury plant. The investigation led to a widespread backlash against the £7.3billion-a-year online giant.

Staff at Amazon’s “fulfillment” centres, where orders are put together, packed and shipped, work up to 55 hours a week for £8.20 an hour.

We photographed “packers” asleep at their stations where, if they achieve 120 boxes an hour, they earn 7p per box.

Staff also said their toilet breaks were monitored and they weren't allowed to go outside of scheduled break times.
