So, if you get caught carrying corrosive substances with no valid reason, you WILL NOT face jail.

Only if you are charged for a second, similar offence will you get a mandatory 6 months (reduced to 3 months for 'good' behaviour). And you have to be 18+ to even get that.

How is this a deterrent ? Carrying the likes of Ammonia or battery acid around can only mean one thing - you intend to use it in some twisted robbery or assault.

3 years for first offence, 10 years for second. And if caught after actually ruining someone's life with this stuff, a mandatory life sentence with min 15 years served, please.

Carrying this shit isn't a 'mistake' as would be claimed. He isn't a 'good person who loves his nan'. He is a fucking psychopath.

And I thought the Tories were supposed to be the party of law and order. About time they showed it.

10 years for being in possession in public.

Life for using it as a weapon.

This would be my punishment.

I have to say when I heard that I thought WTF :dunno:

I mean what possible reason could anyone have for strolling the streets with corrosive liquids or materials on their person? ..... then I thought that I have actually bought spirit of salts from Robert Dyas - which is in fact hydrochloric acid - several times and carried it home. It is an excellent drain cleaner and lime scale remover, but it has to be used with care. The advantage it has over branded and more popular drain cleaners is it is considerably cheaper and far more potent.

Funnily enough I bought some a few months ago for cleaning out the external drains at my daughter' house, it was many years previous to that when I last bought some.

I say that because on that previous and earlier occasions you had to ask an assistant to get it from a back storage area as it wasn't displayed, I was quite shocked to find that this latest time when I asked, it was on the display shelves in the shop. :ooer:
