Yep.

That's stupid.
Why shouldn't they trust someone in authority?

Oh dear.
Just read the last 2 lines of my post above. :again?:

I do read your comments, why won't you answer a straight question?
He's the boss, why shouldn't he be trusted? Maybe the younger more impressionable ones didn't know he was a sleaze bag.
Why put the blame on people being naive when it's the predator boss at fault?

Life is all about learning, not having someone do your thinking for you, as much as Blairite Nanny Staters would like it.

Lovely Angie Everhart immediately told everyone of Weinstein's pervy attack, so it's not true that all the women kept quiet about him.

Why do idiots actually think it's John Oliver that's so funny and astute?
Do the morons who drone on about how clever he is, Not realise that there is a team of 15 writers workers on his scripts?
All he does is sit in front of the camera and act.
And he more than likely had to blow Weinstein or someone like him to get his acting break.
And does a man who comes from Britain and obviously hates America. Choose to live and work there?
OHHH yeah it's the almighty yanky dollar.

Stooo posted a funny YT clip of him years ago, and recommended him as a good talent.
So I looked him up and found him to be very prolific - covers all sorts of news topics, and I've found his material quite useful.
I don't think a team of writers can make an unfunny person funny. A comic's just funny or he isn't.

Who's YOUR fave lampoonist/satirist then, if you hate Oliver that much?
Recommend your own personal fave, I'm always on the lookout for good satirists whose work I can use in my posts.

I was being generous  I'm sure the guy presents some good and insightful material, but the voice and the frenetic, machine gun speed delivery make me zone out.

Bill Maher's quieter, more laid back style is hard to beat, imo.

We've all blamed the predator boss already. No one is disputing that he's 100% at fault.
But I'm questioning the wisdom of some of the women.
Surely even the most naïve, dumbest girl, on day 1 in Hollywood, has an inkling that the film industry is packed full of sexual predators, it comes with the territory.
Yes of course if he was a TEACHER his pupils should be able to trust him ... but c'mon, the school education department is a far cry from the movie industry!

Let's look on the bright side - they're all coming forward and speaking out, that's a good & positive thing - it will bring out a sea change in public life, mark my words.
The ultimate ''happy ending'' in every sense.

Maher is good, but he's too dour and humble (as is Anderson Cooper). A brazen, unapologetic style suits comedy better imo.
Also, facial expressions count. The hilariously bewildered expression of Oliver when describing absolute absurdities all add to the mix.
His fast talking style is the very thing that appeals to me - works well with the content of the show.
His british accent in the US, among dozens of comics with US accents - that works well too. Makes him stand out.
In the end comedy preferences is all down to personal taste I guess.

Whilst we're on the subject, respect to Buzzcock guy Sean Hughes.
You went too soon, RIP.

I grew up watching Sean Hughes in the 90s when he was at the height of his fame, I was gutted to hear he had passed away...

John Stewart was the best TV news commentator imo, before he retired...

He still pops up on Colbert from time to time.

The Dems could do far worse if they ran Stewart for the populist vote next time.

Anderson Cooper is a whole different genre, but I get what you're saying. I'm surprised to see you say Maher's too dour, tbh. IMO, he's one of the best piss-takers out there, especially when it comes to that Orange Manchild, and his facial expressions alone can often say it all :gigglesnshit:

I really like Trevor Noah too. Didn't he take over from the fantastic Jon Stewart?

Do you think he would run under his Jewish name or his adopted white Christian one?
Talk about fake from the outset.

Used to love The Daily Show before it was dropped from Freeview.

Stewart et al were brilliant and from the brief appearances of Colbert so was he.

Cracking stuff.

We once had Spitting Image but there is fuck all on telly taking the piss out of the great and the good now - HIGNFY lost it ages ago.
