''Come up & see me sometime, sexy'' ... [Re Weinstein]

Postby Text » Thu Oct 19, 2017 7:00 pm

The Weinstein Exposé has made shock waves throughout the US and beyond.

We have all criticised this slavering lech already, ... but now let's look at the other side of the story.

So many of the horrific accounts of his attacks, start with the ominous phrase "After the party he asked me to go up and see him in his room/hotel suite"

At the very least, you should take a friend with you. Some women had the sense to do this and have hilarious accounts of how desperately hard he tried to get rid of the chaperone.

So ... when a powerful man with a well known reputation as a creep invites you to come up and see him in his room .........

...............It's a safe bet that a quiet game of tiddywinks ain't what he's got in mind. :-|

The BRILLIANT John Oliver does it again. ( 2.24 mins ) I luv that guy. :wubbers:

Lovely Angie Everhart immediately told everyone of Weinstein's pervy attack, so it's not true that all the women kept quiet about him.

Are you blaming the women for trusting him?

I wonder how many will come forward and admit they went with it because they wanted a career in movies more than they cared about having to blow an ugly Hollywood big shot.

That's stupid.
Why shouldn't they trust someone in authority?

If a teacher, preacher or MP abuses someone do we blame their victims?

If your boss rubbed himself up against you would it be your fault?

Bill Cosby too.
And I remember Roger Ailes and Bill Orielly at Fox news both getting the heave ho.
Now escapologist David Blaine has been accused of rape.
The list grows ever longer.

This saga represents a tipping point in the way these violation crimes are viewed.
In future his mates can no longer say "harvey violated a woman? oh it's just harvey being harvey, he's a lovable rogue" (see vid above)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But returning back to original topic, it's strange that grown, intelligent women kept putting themselves in harms way?
He's 100% in the wrong here, but surely women need to take charge of their lives and not be so trusting of a known sleazebag!

My comments are reasonable, I feel.
I am criticising the women who made midnight journeys to his room, unaccompanied. The sensible ones refused, or at least took their agent or friend with them.

Contrast what I said with the DISGRACEFUL comments of Donna Karan who is simply indulging on a spot of victim-shaming on behalf of her mate, Harvey.
Saying women's way of dressing is ''asking for it'' :yikes: She sounds like a deranged Imam.

Ta for your contribution anyway, LM.

Could have something to do with "optimism bias" - the "it will never happen to me" kind of thinking.

I was having a chat with some random Guest on the other Harvey Weinstein thread about opening my front door without asking who it is and not expecting something bad to happen on doing so. However, I know crime does occur and it is a possibility so perhaps I could be more careful and should I bear some degree of responsibility if a crime does happen?

It could be something like that. Maybe they thought he may try something on but never imagined he would go as far as he did.

I do read your comments, why won't you answer a straight question?
He's the boss, why shouldn't he be trusted? Maybe the younger more impressionable ones didn't know he was a sleaze bag.
Why put the blame on people being naive when it's the predator boss at fault?

Well indeed. We have the honesty of the unwilling to thank for his demise. I just wonder where is the honesty from the willing. Seems Monroe was the last one.
