NHS IN CRISIS

Doctors should be available 24/7 within the community. - I would be happy with them being available during weekends first.
Home visits and drop in centres. - Nice idea, difficult to implement in practice, especially if the above was brought in
More beds ... the old beds .... should be brought on line. - see my post about my local hospital and how its sat, empty while Blackburn struggles. Would like to see the hospitals that were previously capable of taking A&E especially brought back as at least over spill hospitals during winter.
This would mostly rescue AnE.
The care industry has collapsed in many areas and much of it needs to be taken into public ownership and expanded. Private care can be very good, I would settle for capable care that works, private or public.
Not spending silly money on a fast railway line that a handful of people will get to use would pay for it. Needs scrapping entirely.
Yes taxes need to rise to pay for public services. - By how much? The figures of pennies and pounds aren't enough and many people dont pay any tax as it is, so a 1/4 of the public wouldnt actually contribute anything extra.
Please refer to New Labour as separate from Labour. This was never an issue between 1997 and 2010 for some reason.
Tony Blair hijacked the Labour party to such an extent he had to rename it. Blair saved the Labour party. They would be long gone by now if not for Blair

Take a trip to your family doctor, many now work for companies like Virgin and Care UK. Your GP may send you for tests carried out by companies like In-health, who run imaging and pathology. Your GP may refer you to a hospital for surgery - perhaps performed in one of the privately run treatment centres. When you return home you could be cared for by one of the queue of companies who are now taking over the running of community health services right across the country. The reach and influence of the private sector over our healthcare is growing fast.

All paid for by the taxpayer still but now a chunk of the money goes on boats houses cars dividends and not patient care.

Tony Blair created a new party nd to emphasise the point the first person he invited to number ten was Thatcher.
That was a very bold statement.
The original Labour party is rising from the ashes under Corbyn.

I think its more like the the living dead, rather than rising from the ashes. There's a reason the socialist Labour died a quite magnificent death.

HOW MANY PATIENTS HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE BACK OF AMBULANCES OUTSIDE A&E UNITS THIS WINTER?

NHS England data, collected from all 137 trusts across the country, show the overall number of patients who were stuck in ambulances outside busy A&E units for more than half an hour for each week this winter.

January 22-28 11,061

January 15-21 11,019

January 8-14 12,559

January 1-7 16,690

December 25-31 16,893

December 18-24 11,852

December 11-17 14,323

December 4-10 11,852

November 27-3 10,184

Were any efforts at all made to find new beds at nearby hospitals. It says doctors haggle for beds but it seems to be within the hospital they work. Also, who is directing ambulances to A&E departments that are full? Wheres the communication? They all have radios, surely theres someone on the other end who can liaise with hospitals to see if theres space?

One issue I have with the doctor spilling all to the Mail is this...

He can barely afford to buy a hot chocolate or coffee because his rent is a quarter of his salary and he is drowning in debt from six years of medical school

I am sorry but this is bollocks. And irrelevant in the grand scheme. I always wonder how these people would cope in other industries with lower starting wages, no allowance for medical school debt being paid back only once reaching set thresholds etc.

Also odd how he or she has gone to the Mail, of all papers.....

Happens all the time Fletch but I'd lost interest in replying.
Here Wrexham Bodelwyddan Bangor and lots of cottage hospitals dotted about and around all share the load.
A straight run by road from Wrexham to Bangor is probably around 70 miles but everywhere out here is about long journeys.
In some circumstances Shropshire Chester and Liverpool are brought into the scheme.

I went in under a blue light last year and the ambulance and crew were red cross!
They operate on behalf of the NHS quite a lot around N. Wales.

As this is neither made clear, reported or anything but two random no marks online claiming it... Any actually evidence.

There's also the view from paramedics themselves. That most people shouldn't even be in the back of an ambulance. This would be part of the entitled culture of today I guess. The Guardian reported it as 66% of people who call for an ambulance don't need one.

But yeh, if you have something that confirms the hospital's communicate over where there is room to take a patient rather than have then sat in an ambulance or on a trolly. I of course hope it happens as it would be logical... But logic and the NHS aren't two things that often go together.

Thanks
