The right wing media campaign against the sick poor and disabled has (sadly) been an unmitigated success in this country.

Poverty porn shows (usually on Channel 4 or 5) who find the most extreme cases to glorify have only added to the general perception that everyone on benefits is a cheating, scrounging, criminal scumbag. If I remember correctly the rate of fraud is about 0.7% - a tiny fraction of what the rich and super-rich scam out of the system with their tax havens etc.

I know someone who worked for the DWP until very recently - thee poor sods are snowed under due to severe cuts and have been secretly ordered to boot off anyone they can from ESA and JSA at the earliest opportunity.

I would go into far more detail but it's too fucking depressing.
