Won't face charges.

Of course he won't, this has been a perfect model of manufactured outrage vs common sense.

If you kill someone then a worse case scenario is assumed and you are arrested for murder, you are then questioned under caution and with a brief on your end. This is due process, everyone who is caught killing someone is arrested for murder because you have to assume the worse without evidence.

If you kill someone as a policeman you can accept to be arrested for murder because someone got killed and you have to assume the worse, this is no different.

Will you outraged idiots actually try to educate yourselves for once?

What exactly does arrested mean?

To me, that means a person was put in a cell and charged with a crime. It doesn't mean questioned. We call that questioning. You don't get put in a cell here unless you are charged with something, even if it's a bogus charge.

Did this guy spend time in jail or not?

The CPS bowed to public pressure, this should have gone to court and a judgement made depending on the circumstances
This opens legal loopholes on future cases

Yeah, it might result in people thinking twice about breaking into someone else's property. That's just fucking madness.

Stopped. you are out of society for a while until things are known.

He is evidence, he is not a suspect in a crime.

I don't think there's ever really been an issue with killing someone who has forced their way into your home and you have to protect yourself and loved ones if you fear being killed.
When you shoot someone in the back who is running away you're in trouble and so you should be.

He was stabbed with a screwdriver (apparently) that HE had brought into the house which could have easily been used to stab the home owner.
It sounds reasonable to me that he had it used on himself... out of fear, in which case I am glad the old fella isn't facing any charges.

Agreed!

Probably some nasty little druggie, looking to fund his next hit of skunk weed.

Our homes are our sanctuary..We should be allowed to use brute force to defend them.

In the UK you have to be cautioned and arrested so as to accompany the police to an appropriate place for questioning. In the UK police can't just go around hoovering up people they want to talk to for no reason, you have to be told why you are being cautioned and arrested beforehand.

Depending on the circumstances you can go with them of your own volition whilst not under arrest. That doesn't happen very often because if you are a suspected perpetrator of a crime, you have to answer questions under caution anyway, so there is little point.
