That's xenophobia right there.

Is American a race?

So me, Charles Barkley and George Takei are the same race?

MD---Keep in mind that Jack inhaled more THC in his young adulthood that Cheech and Chong combined.

I'd say every demographic has it's village idiots.

The problem is, you can't criticise some of them for fear of being branded as sexist/racist/homophobic/islamophobic/whatever.

Weird, huh?

Well don’t be sexist/racist/ etc... then you won’t get branded.

Simple huh?

Were you being an idiot every time someone called you an idiot?

Not that I'm calling you an idiot, but I'm sure someone has, and without justification. It happens with other labels too. In fact, labels are usually the first defense of idiots. :cuppaT:

Hi Maddy, been ages since we’ve had one of our deep and meaningful convos.
Nobody, irl, has ever called me an idiot. I’m sure that doesn’t shock you at all.
Idiot is a more generalised term and the idiot caller will have their own interpretation of what makes someone an idiot.

Being called a racist/sexist/ homophobic etc is more specific and would be a result of something specific the recipient of the label has said or done, like name calling.

Any and all words can have their definitions twisted. I would say words like racist and sexist are the most abused, because they are the most powerful. They do the most damage and evidence of a racist or sexist position is hardly necessary to have those words used against you.

It's why we have such difficult times have honest discussions about the topic.

It’s usually the people who complain about those words being overused who display the sexist / racist tendencies. Often they’re older and haven’t been able to keep up with changing times. What was once encouraged is now frowned or scorned upon and they can’t keep up.
