Mexicans and Central Americans commit a disproportionate amount of crime there but highest crime levels are amongst the black population who are are mostly the descendants of slaves, which I'm hoping you know.

They're talking talking about a suggestion on the side of a bus!

Which shows they have no arguments and the EU is a a hard sell, unsurprisingly.

So the black population were born there.....and are as American as any white so-called Irish-American or Italian-American.

As for Mexicans, I think we can leave the utter derision greeting Trump's speech about them to speak volumes.

It's no hard sell, far from it.

Peace among EU nations.

Harmonised standards, including food, medicine, safety.

Better working conditions.

Freedom to live and work in 28 countries.

Clean beaches and rivers.

Cleaner air.

Negotiations of trade agreements from a powerful position within a trading bloc.

Tariff free trade.

Keeping the UK together.

Just a few reasons to stay, or re-join.

And if that means everything gets alarmingly reminiscent of Nineteen Eighty Four, I guess we can just burn Orwell's books.

Besides, did we not have all that, already, before we joined the EU?
Seems like some people think it was all satanic mills and children up chimneys back in the 1980s.

Peace among EU nations. - Possibly but not guaranteed, we just change to warmongering against Russia instead or amyone they fancy.

Harmonised standards, including food, medicine, safety. - why do we need that?

Better working conditions - why do you think our working conditions would have been worse? Go ask someone who works at Amazon Tilbury if you can find one who speaks English, see what working conditions are like in the EU.

Freedom to live and work in 28 countries. - Fine, no one is stopping any of the whinging remainers from fucking off to do that.

Clean beaches and rivers. - Coz we wouldn't have them without the EU.

Cleaner air. ditto above

Negotiations of trade agreements from a powerful position within a trading bloc. - 40 years, so what happened?

Tariff free trade. - To Treasure Island as the Europeans call us.

Keeping the UK together. - eh?

Just a few reasons to stay, or re-join.

So no-one remembers the sewage pipes pouring into the sea a few yards from the beaches ?

Or the rivers where there were no living creatures due to industrial toxins ?

:pmsl: :pmsl: :pmsl:

The rules to clean them up didn't come from any UK government.

And the same applies to air quality, emissions from vehicles, TV and radio interference etc etc.

Thanks to the EU, we live in a much cleaner, safer country. Of course, that costs money, which explains why so many Tories hate the EU.

And for TJ, we need harmonised standards to ensure that the likes of China can't just dump shoddy, unsafe and therefore cheap goods on us.

All EU countries have the same standards as signified by the CE mark, and imports must adhere to those standards.

A couple of other answers for TJ

After 40 years we have 65 Free Trade Agreements with various countries outside the EU.

All hard earned, and we will be giving every one of them up in 12 months time for David Davis's and Liam Fox's unicorn rainbow non-existent deals....

And no - we will lose the right to live and work freely in other EU countries.

Canny very well explained, but we still lurch forward to disaster, even if we leave the EU we will still have to obey all of their standards so what is the point ?

Brexit what is it all about ?

In 2017 Mexico had the highest number of murders ever recorded, a rate of 20.5 per 100,000.

Some states are incredibly violent, Colima had a rate of 93.6 murders per 100,000, Baja California Sur 69.1; and Guerrero 64.2.

Of course Americans should be concerned, the Drug Cartels there have been spectacularly violent for decades, I wouldn't like to live near the border.

And Latin American gangs commit a lot of crime in America's inner cities.

What indeed.

It's a question every leaver must be asking in their (very) occasional moments of self doubt.

I cannot see benefits of chucking what we have away in the hope of jam tomorrow. To sell to our biggest market will require identical standards, as you say. And they are sure to buy less, as a certain resentment sets in and nationalist governments push home grown products.
