LIVINGSTONE QUITS LABOUR

LIVINGSTONE QUITS LABOUR

Postby Cannydc » Mon May 21, 2018 7:06 pm

Ken Livingstone has announced that he is resigning from the Labour party.

The former mayor of London and Labour MP said he was leaving the party he joined 50 years ago with “great sadness” but would continue to campaign for a government led by Jeremy Corbyn.

He came under mounting pressure after Shami Chakrabarti, who authored a report dealing with antisemitism and racism in the party, hinted that she might quit the Labour frontbench if he was not expelled from the party at his next hearing.

The shadow attorney general, whose intervention indicated that the front bench was starting to turn against Livingstone, said she did not believe there were circumstances where the party’s disciplinary panel could decide not to expel him.

Livingstone said he was quitting after his lawyers advised him that if he lost his case and was expelled, it would take at least two years before any legal challenge was resolved.

Can't wait to see similar happening with the Tories, whose membership has been shown to show double the anti-Semite sentiments compared to Labour members.

Shan't hold my breath.

Corbyn should have sacked him
Gutless Corbyn shows his lack of a spine - again.

Who do you think Corbyn is - some gammon faced, Tory / UKIP voting boss who doesn't give a fig for due process ?

Wrong again. The party has a disciplinary process - and were seeing it through.

Another win for the only politician actually showing leadership qualities at this time.

When a government minister steps out of line - Theresa May sacks him/her
When a Labour member steps out of line - Corbyn does nothing

You should be watching Tulip Siddiq (MP Labour) on the BBC news right now.
She is saying exactly the same as me.

The leader of the Labour Party does not have the power to expel a member - but you already knew that.

Good. It's a real shame as he made London the great city it is today but he's gone off the rails recently and it is right he quits.

Corbyn has been leader of the Labour Party for 3 years now.
This anti-semitic issue in the Labour Party has been in the public debate for more than 2 years
Why has Corbyn not sorted it out?
Tulip Siddiq just said on national TV that Livingstone should have been sacked years ago - and she gave many reasons why
She just said that he has brought the party into disrepute

Is this an example of Corbyn's decisive leadership?
Should he ever become PM - will he take 3 years to make any decision about anything?
Why has Corbyn still not condemmed him?

"A spokesman for the Campaign Against Antisemitsm said Mr Corbyn's decision to describe Mr Livingstone's resignation as "sad" had merely "rubbed salt into the wound".
The group called for Mr Corbyn to apologise and added: "The Labour Party's anti-Semitism problem seems to be growing, not receding."

.
Tories are completely blind to their own ministers and their fuck ups. :shake head: This is confirmed by the way they ignore certain threads that highlight their ineptitude.

Is that what passes for "due process" these days?

One person threatens to resign unless somebody they don't approve of is punished?

Honestly, I couldn't give two tosses about Ken Livingstone and I have no idea if the criticisms against him are valid or not but "due process" should involve everybody keeping their gobs shut until after any investigation/enquiry is completed.

From what I can gather Livingstones crimes are not anti semitic. His crimes are discussing the Zionist boycott of German goods in the thirties that were seen as a threat to the growing German economy and the Haavara agreement.
