Is that a tough concept for you? Or are you just too lazy or too mind numbed from reading these ridiculous publications that dont state the facts.

When one side(for example China) tariffs the hell out of you and restricts imports of goods---and the other side(for example the USA doesnt tariff their goods--creating huge trade deficits and loss of jobs)
then it is perfectly reasonable to tariff China in order to create a fair playing field.
Is that so difficult to understand??

The ignorance on TSD is just appalling at times.

WE AREN'T CHINA, YOU CRETIN !!

Do you really not understand the FREE TRADE concept ?

Be as protectionist as you like - you are harming your own workers and economy too...

I don't care - I never buy anything American (the whisky is vile, like the coffee and the scruffy jeans).

The US said a 25% tax on steel and 10% tax on aluminium from the EU, Mexico and Canada will start at midnight.

The move immediately triggered vows of retaliation from Mexico, Canada and the EU, which called the tariffs "protectionism, pure and simple".

The UK said it was "deeply disappointed" by the US decision, which followed weeks of negotiations.

Which look like a practice run for our post-Brexit negotiations for free trade agreements.

That is, a shambles.

I was born in England, and moved to the U.S 20 years ago. I love the place, glad I got out of the shit that Britain was and It's only got worse since then.
America will survive, It's a waiting game. Europe is on the verge of imploding and pretty soon you will be at each others throats fighting for scraps. Were big enough that we can make and use any materials we want to rebuild renew our infa-structure at home.
What do you do, put a tariff on Harley davidson a company that's going out of business anyway here lol.
How do you think Britain will do in a trade war with anyone. You produce fuck all and what you do produce can and is made cheaper else where.
Canada can't sustain a trade war with as nor can Mexico.
It might be that Trump wants to close the borders so that no one who is illegal gets in from both borders.
Wait and see Mexico be the first to beg Trump to stop and offer anything Trump wants.
We might be heading to ww111, and it will begin again in Europe. Don't bet On America bailing you out this time.

For those of us who owned Dagenham Dustbins (mine was a Mk1 Escort, MHO 852F) the days were hardly 'heady'...

It's looking like most of the civilised world is backing away from the empire of chaos.
Fuck the dollar we'll trade in Euros and Yuan.
Fuck America.
Fuck NATO.
That is what Trump is now creating and his handlers must know what they're doing.
Europe is being pushed eastward.
Is this the long slow birth of the Eurasian empire starting to really take off thanks to America?
Where will the UK stand?
Alone in between America and Eurasia.
Eurasia dwarfs America for resources manpower and wealth.
Dangerous times.
If America becomes much more isolationist it may well trigger the withdrawal of America troops from the middle east so they can take over the south American continent for all its needs.
Crazy?
Maybe.

You ain't got a clue Jack, You think you'll trade in euros? you fucking numpty. Why do you think countries want out of the EU?
As to NATO, Trump would be delighted if NATO folds, Can't you remember him saying if NATO countries don't pay their fair share, America will not support them?
He hopes NATO collapses. As do Most Americans

I had the 'pleasure' of business trips to the States recently - Atlanta, St Louis and Detroit.

Shitholes, one and all. Everything run down, closed down or falling down.

From personal experience, you are whistling in a very cold wind.

I've seem the future of the US..... good luck starting trade wars. You will lose.

I believe Britain is screwed.
We're doomed without Europe.
The Eurasian empire will now become the reality and Britain will be out in the cold.
We've pissed Europe off told to many tall tales about Putin and Russia and America really no longer have much use for us so we will be on our own.
Power is shifting toward the east and no America will not survive as a super power.
It will implode with unpayable unsustainable debt.
You'll be tearing each others eyes out soon.

Harold Wilson was the last UK PM to stand up to America when he told Lyndon B. Johnson that the UK would not be sending troops into Vietnam.

May is pitiful.

I don't think Corbyn would be Americas poodle, and too much of their shit with regards to healthcare etc is being imported over to here.

It's well overdue that it has to be stopped.
