Thorpe scandal: attempted murder case to reopen

Thorpe scandal: attempted murder case to reopen

Postby Guest » Sun Jun 03, 2018 10:13 pm

The BBC drama about the rise and fall of the Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe, A Very English Scandal, which concludes on Saturday, may need a sequel.

For the extraordinary tale of sex, power and corruption – in which Hugh Grant has been lavished with praise for his portrayal of Thorpe, who was acquitted of plotting to have his gay lover murdered – has taken another tragicomic twist.

Yesterday, police confirmed that an investigation into the murky affair will be reopened on the grounds that they had wrongly assumed one of the main suspects was dead. Easily verifiable evidence had emerged to suggest that he was indeed alive.

I wonder what David Steele thinks about this? :wurms:

Isn’t Thorpe dead? What would be the point?

They are looking for the suspect who killed Scott's dog and tried to kill Scott at the same time (his revolver jammed). That wasn't Thorpe.

He was believed dead, but there is now evidence to the contrary.

It's a very good series, catch it on I-Player...

Oh he’s alive? I saw it, was very funny in parts, bit of a black humour serial.
I laughed at the little beetle police car with the really loud siren when they arrested the bumbling shooter.
Times have changed!

The fact Thorpe wanted him killed was extraordinarily odd in this day and age where homosexuality is more accepted.
Are there many out and proud MPs?
