So a rogue nation has agreed to give up it's nuclear weapons programme and the world sleeps a bit easier.

Not bad for a bloke who has been ridiculed by the lefty liberals since he came to power and before because he wears a ginger wig and speaks his mind.

If this is all he does in his short tenure, it'll be more than the Obama's and Clinton's of this world ever did in their time at the top.

I did find it amusing how some media outfits but particularly the BBC were reporting the news with a great deal of caution and words of warning from anyone from the anti Trump camp they could dig up.

If this had been Obama they'd have been pissing their pants with excitement and joy and covered it like a royal wedding.

You mean like the JCPOA (Iran deal) with Iran and six other countries (P5+1) which Trump promptly reneged on?

Or maybe the 'no more wars' and 'bring the troops home' which resulted in more troops to Afghanistan, launching two direct attacks on Syrian Government without evidence or approval from congress or maybe the continued US involvement in bombing Yemen back to the stone age?

On the NK issue, the attempts at peace are down to the new South Korean president who was elected earlier this year. He was the one who spoke of talks and a possible reunification. He has had meeting with Kim and China have been involved too. Trump is just doing the 'do as we say or we'll take you out' routine that America has operated for decades.

Gaddafi actually agreed to give up his project for nuclear enrichment/nuclear weapons in talks with the US, much like NK ones now. A few years later he was taken out and his country robbed of it's gold, bombed in to the stone age and used as a criminal base by the usual undesirable friends of UK/US/France. (same groups the paid mercenaries moderate terrorists come from)

Congratulations for what?

He's cancelled joint strategic manoeuvres with major Western allies, even calling them war games in the same language that NK uses for an empty promise from a dictator who has concentration camps and is armed by Russia.

In the meantime, he's insulted his allies (including our PM) and torn up major treaties between them and didn't even have the grace to consult the country that's most at risk from the North.

Seems some are so idealogically bound they prefer nuclear proliferation to seeing their imagined adversaries sorting shit out.

Realists accept positive change from wherever/however it comes.

Hes done well.

NK hasn't given up anything. Nor has Trump.

Listening yesterday to an experienced negotiator, in his words, they will agree a gradual de-nuclearisation of the Korean peninsular. In reality, the process will be so gradual as to be near imperceptible, and guess when Korea will be nuclear free ? The answer is never.

It would be nice to see the lot gone in a week - but anyone who believes that NK will leave themselves naked to aggression or that US will relinquish their influence on the peninsula are naive at best.

Anything Donald Trump does is primarily for the benefit of Donald Trump.

All that interests him is his own ego and self-gratification.

When it comes to priorities it's always "Trump First".
