It is embarrassing. I'm not anti-Labour, but political party festivals? Oh God, that's bad...

For the first time, the country has the chance to elect somebody thoroughly decent to be the PM.

Labour's Janet Daby has won the Lewisham East by-election, which was triggered by the resignation of Labour MP Heidi Alexander.

The ex-deputy mayor of Lewisham won with 50.2% of the vote, and said she felt "humbled and delighted".

The Tories were stunned to be left in a poor third place, having polled five times as many votes in the GE last year as the LibDems.

UKIP couldn't even beat the Women's Equality Party...

Janet Daby - Labour 11,033 (50.2%)
Lucy Salek - Liberal Democrats 5,404 (24.6%)
Ross Archer - Conservative 3,161 (14.4%)
Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah - Green Party 788 (3.6%)
Mandu Reid - Women's Equality Party 506 (2.3%)
David Kurten - UKIP 380 (1.7%)

And May wonders why people thinks she is so out of touch regarding Grenfell, social housing etc etc. Any ideas anyone?

The above result follows some very interesting by-election results this month. Especially for the Libdems...

Canmore (Mid Devon) result:
CON: 45.1% (+13.3)
LDEM: 32.5% (+32.5)
LAB: 22.4% (+7.0)
Conservative HOLD.

Benson & Crowmarsh (South Oxfordshire) result:
LDEM: 57.4% (+27.2)
CON: 36.0% (-10.6)
LAB: 6.6% (-4.0)
Liberal Democrat GAIN from Conservative.

Labour analysts are taking heed of the Lib Dems and their recent results.
