UK to be locked out of EU police databases

UK to be locked out of EU police databases

Postby McAz » Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:47 am

Britain will be locked out of EU policing and security databases after Brexit, the bloc’s chief negotiator has confirmed.

Mr Barnier said the British government needed a dose of “realism” about what would be possible on security cooperation after the UK left.

The chief negotiator said EU security cooperation was based on “trust”, but said: “This trust doesn’t fall from the sky, there is no magic wand. This trust is founded on an ecosystem … If you leave this ecosystem you lose the benefits of this cooperation.”
Mr Barnier said the EU’s position had been developed after speaking to the 27 remaining member states in recent weeks.

Who can blame them - why should they trust a "rogue" state like the UK?

There's getting to be quite a list of hugely important projects and institutions which the UK will have no access to, post-Brexit.

Every one of them decried and derided as 'Project Fear' prior to the referendum.... and since....

Eventually enough eyes will be opened to the wilful damage we are intent on inflicting upon the UK and British people.

The Brexit halfwits wanted "their country back" - they can't now expect access to the resources of other countries in order to keep it safe?

Unless they pay of course. :gigglesnshit:

I know May is a poor negotiator but so is Barnier, all he does is issue threats.

But at least we have the blue passports that we could have had in 1992 if the Conservatives had let us... :gigglesnshit:

She has three, and they all can. But so can I.

If I die in Thailand, it won't be from lack of food.

Thanks for asking.

Funny thing about that - Barnier never issues threats, he states facts as decided by EU rules and the other 27 nations. Only Leavers haven't quite grasped that yet, and neither has Davis or Treeza. The best they come up with is "They need us more than we need them", "German car manufacturers will make sure we get a good deal" and "The Irish border is of little importance in negotiations".

Barnier has held every trump card at every turn, just as predicted.

He's no bully - he's batting for 27 countries and he's batting to win.

I find this sort of thing utterly absurd,

Are, say, the USA, Japan or Australia part of the EU?
Do our police share information with those countries?
Why should it be any different with EU countries?

Seriously, is it not in the EU's interests to keep sharing information about criminals with the UK, just as it's in the UK's interests to do the same?

Threatening this sort of thing just reeks of "I'm taking my ball in!!!"

That doesn't seem like a terribly mature way to handle something that's globally important and which other countries have no problem dealing with.

Course, it'll be a good excuse to enact harsher restrictions on immigration for those who support such things. :dunno:
