i'd be happy to change from plastic to environmentally friendly alternatives, hemp sounds like a good start.

lady m was right about the biodegradable plastic, petrochem could gear up for that & still be in business.

We still use plastic and paper bags here. I love that idea of using hemp. Good idea Jack.

Basically, we'd be fucked without plastic these days.

Suffice to say, IMO plastic isn't so much the problem, it's how we as a messy/untidy species deal with it. Basically tidy up after ourselves (which many of us don't) and recycle stuff (which many of us don't).

The fucking point is the plastic doesn't have to be made from oil.
It can be made from carbon neutral material that readily breaks down in the environment or have you not bothered reading more than the title of the thread .... again?

If plastic isn't the problem we are, what do you propose we do with the billions of tons of plastic waste we keep producing that won't break down easily .... stack it up in the corner neatly?

Most of the problems humans cause are by overpopulation and over-consumption of resources.

There are currently few solutions to humans raping the planet, leaving their 'mess' behind, other than drastically downsizing the population to say 50 million and who want's to be in control of that.

Obviously population growth is an issue but the powers that be can start investing in sustainable resources, they are already attempting to. This is more than just the current mess, this is about looking to make a better future.

A world population of fifty million!
Where the fuck do you get such a figure?
The world can only sustain a population less than that of the U.K ... fucking doughnut.
