SYRIAN ARMY SEIZES MORE US-SUPPLIED WEAPONS ABANDONED BY MILITANTS IN DAMASCUS AND AL-QUNEITRA

On November 21, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) uncovered several weapons caches during search operations in the countryside of al-Quneitra and in the southwestern Damascus countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The weapons caches contained two Bulgarian-made Fagot anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), a Bulgarian-made Konkurs ATGM, assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, mortar shells, mines, ammunition of different calibers and two satellite communication systems. Ten stolen vehicles were also recovered.

Last year, the Conflict Armament Research (CAR) released a detailed report on how the U.S. bought loads of weapons, including Fagot and Konkurs ATGMs, from Bulgaria in order to supply them to its proxies in Syria. A large part of these weapons found its way to the terrorist groups like ISIS and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which continue to use them to this day.

WESTERN WEAPONS, EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUCTORS FLOOD UKRAINE IN SIGN OF FURTHER TENSIONS WITH RUSSIA

On November 20, the Daily Telegraph reported that the UK is going to increase its military support to the Kiev government. This effort will include the deployment of British troops in Ukraine and sending a British Navy ship to the country.

“As long as Ukraine faces Russian hostilities, it will find a steadfast partner in the United Kingdom,” British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson will say announcing the move according to the Tory-supporting Telegraph, who have apparently been provided with access to Williamson’s speech.

Since 2015, the UK has reportedly trained about 10,000 Ukrainian troops in areas such as logistics and identification of improvised explosive devices. So, British special services also provide “assistance” to their Ukrainian counterparts in the smoldering conflict in the region of Donbass.

On November 19, 2018 the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that the US had allegedly suggested to supply two Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates to Ukraine. These frigates were put out of commission by the US Navy in 2013-2015.

On September 27, Ukraine received two old patrol boats from the US Navy. Despite receiving them free, Ukraine will have to pay $10 million for renovations of the vessels in Baltimore, where they will remain until fall of 2019.

These developments come ahead of an expected further escalation in relations between Ukraine and Russia. The Sea of Azov is the main point of tensions between the two sides besides the region of Donbass. Over the past year, Ukraine has undertaken a series of hostile steps toward civil ships under Russian flag in the Sea of Azov. Rusisa has responded by deploying an additional coastal guards force and started checks of all ship heading towards the Ukrainian ports in the area.

According to experts, there are litlte doubts that the Kiev government will use its “boosted” naval capabilities to increase tensiosn in the Azov Sea.

“MODERATE REBELS” ATTACK ALEPPO CITY WITH CHEMICAL WEAPONS. CASUALTIES REPORTED

At the late hours of November 24, unknown militants launched several rockets containing chlorine gas at residential areas in the northern part of Aleppo city, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

“Terrorist groups fired rocket shells containing toxic gases at al-Khalidiye and al-Neel Street neighborhoods in Aleppo city,” the SANA said in a press release.

The reporter of the Syrian News TV in Aleppo said that 75 civilians, including at least 14 children, were intoxicated as a result of the chemical attack. The injured civilians were reportedly transported to the hospitals of Aleppo University and al-Razy.

UPDATE: The fresh nubmers say that 107 civilians suffered asphyxiation, including many women and children.

Russia and the Damascus government warned earlier this year that radical militants in northern Syria have received chemical materials, including chlorine, from Western countries. Furthermore, two days ahead of the attack in Aleppo, a report by the Russian news outlet Sputnik warned that French militants-experts have armed several rockets with chemical warheads in southern Idlib.

AFTER USING CHEMICAL WEAPONS, “MODERATE REPELS” ATTACK POWER PLANT IN NORTHERN HAMA

Radical militants shelled the al-Zarah power plant in the northern Hama countryside on November 25, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

“Two artillery rounds were fired by the terrorist groups, the first one landed in a depot and the second on an asphalt road inside the plant, which caused material loses in the depot,” Ali Hifa the director of the al-Zarah power plant told the SANA’s reporter in Hama.

The al-Zarah power plant is one of the key civilian infrastructure objects in central Syria. The plant provides both government and opposition-held areas in the region with electricity.

RUSSIAN WARPLANES ELIMINATE MILITANTS RESPONSIBLE FOR CHEMICAL ATTACK ON ALEPPO

On November 25, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces had carried out airstrikes on positions of militants who attacked the northern Syrian city of Aleppo with chemical weapons a day earlier.

According to the Russian MoD, intelligence services located the weapons that were used to launch the chemical attack within the demilitarized zone, which was established around the governorate of Idlib under the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement. Information collected by the Russian intelligence also revealed that the militants were planning to launch another chemical attack on Aleppo.

Syrian opposition sources confirmed that Russian warplanes conducted several airstrikes on the districts of Rashideen and Khan Tuman northwest of Aleppo. Both districts are controlled by the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation (NFL).

More than one hundred civilians, including children, were reportedly intoxicated as a result of the chemical attack on Aleppo. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said that the attack was carried out with rockets containing chlorine gas.

BRITISH SECURITY COMPANY CONFIRMS: FIVE OF ITS EMPLOYEES WERE KILLED IN RECENT KABUL ATTACK

On November 29, the British security company G4S acknowledged that five of its employees were killed in the recent attack by the Taliban on its headquarters in the Afghan capital of Kabul. G4S said that thirty-two other employees were injured, five of them are still in a critical condition.

“We are committed to our security role in support of the people of Afghanistan, and we are determined that incidents such as this will not prevent the vital work that the international community conducts from continuing,” G4S said in an official statement.

British media identified one of the casualties as 33-year old Luke Griffin, a veteran infantryman of the British military who worked for G4S as a close protection specialist. According to the Sun, Luke saw action in Iraq and Afghanistan during his service in the army.

SYRIAN AIR DEFENSE FORCES SHOOT DOWN “ENEMY OBJECTS” OVER DAMASCUS

At the late hours of November 29, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SyAADF) had shot down several unidentified flying objects over the district of al-Kiswah south of the Syrian capital of Damascus.

“Initial reports say that all enemy objects were destroyed and didn’t reach any of their targets,” the SANA said in a short press release.

Local sources told SouthFront that the SyAAD is still launching surface-to-air missiles at flying objects over Damascus and al-Quneitra. Several loud explosions were also heard between the two governorates.

The available information indicate that the Israeli Air Force (IAF) attempt to strike positions of Iranian forces south of Damascus. However, the Syrian and Israeli media are yet to provide more details.

If confirmed, this would be the first Israeli airstrike on Syria since the downing of the Russian Il-20 intelligence plane on September 17. Following the incident, Russia supplied Syria with the S-300 air defense system and an advanced command and control system.
