The fun just keeps piling on...

After March 2019 if there’s no deal

The MRPQ Directive will no longer apply to the UK and there will be no system of reciprocal recognition of professional qualifications between the remaining EEA states and the UK.

The UK will ensure that professionals arriving in the UK from the EEA after the exit date will have a means to seek recognition of their qualifications. However, this will differ from the current arrangements. For example, specific mechanisms and functions linked to EU membership, such as automatic recognition, or temporary access to regulated activities on the basis of a declaration, will no longer be applicable. Tools such as the Internal Market Information system will also no longer be available in the UK.

The government will continue to work with the Scottish Government, Welsh Government and the Northern Ireland Civil Service as well as regulatory bodies to ensure the future system for the recognition of professional qualifications works across the UK. These arrangements are without prejudice to the rights and privileges accorded, by virtue of the Common Travel Area, to Irish and UK citizens when in each other’s state.

The government will share details of the new procedure in due course and applicants should contact the relevant regulators at the appropriate time.
Implications

There are implications for all the professions named in this notice as well as businesses.

TORIES - THE PARTY OF HATE

The number of recorded hate crimes has more than doubled in the past five years and is likely to be related in part to the aftermath of the Brexit vote and the spate of terrorist attacks last year, according to the Home Office.

Hate crime offences recorded by the police rose by 17% to 94,098 in the 12 months to March, figures for England and Wales show. This represents an increase of 123% since 2012-13, when 42,255 hate crimes were recorded.

Noted were “spikes in hate crime following certain events such as the EU referendum and the terrorist attacks in 2017”.

Any historical data on recorded hate crimes? Do they occur on twitter?
(I believe the spikes but feel uneasy about these stats)

Economic experts have made an explosive suggestion of a further referendum to reverse Brexit, to avoid the crippling of the British economy.

The influential Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said the deadlock in the exit talks now threatened a “disorderly Brexit”, with severe consequences.

Its report controversially puts the case for a dramatic rethink on the agenda – suggesting halting EU withdrawal is a route to avoiding that fate.

Are you on about the zero hours stuff? I'm pretty sure that qualified plumbers, especially those who are gas safe registered pull in a shitload more than the minimum wage. I'm happy to discuss this outrage if you want :dunno:

Support for Ireland remaining in the European Union has reached near-unanimous levels in the Republic, with a solution to the Brexit border problem looking further off than ever.

A full 92 per cent of the Irish population now support staying in the EU, according to a new survey by pollsters Red C, with just 7 per cent supporting a theoretical “Irexit” and 1 per cent saying they don’t know.

The findings are likely to disappoint Brexiteers, some of whom have suggested Ireland might follow Britain’s march towards the exit door – and that Irish departure could be a way of solving the border question currently plaguing Brexit talks.

Oh dear, looks like yet another Brexiteer fantasy gone arse over head. :shoot: :more beer:

And there was me thinking you only supported this anti-worker piece of trash because he was pro-remain but it turns out you agree with his shitty practises.
Well I suppose Liberals will be Liberals

The court rightfully ruled that Pimlico plumers are employed not self-employed and therefore Mullin's company has a duty to provide them with the employment rights UK workers have fought long and hard for (holiday pay, sick pay, rest breaks, protection from discrimination, etc).

He treated them like employed workers (exercising 'tight administrative control' over them) yet didnt want to have to provide them with the rights employed workers are entitled to - his practises represents everything that is wrong with the 'gig economy'.

Thankfully, as the deliveroo thread shows, the workers in this sector are fighting back.

The DUP keep being presented to us as Ireland's voice. Do the BBC, sky News etc not realise the DUP don't consider themselves Irish??
The lack of attention being paid to what Ireland's views are on this potential border is really worrying. We're about to breach the Good Friday Agreement ffs.
